Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dan Monroe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gepetto Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dan Monroe has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monroe moves into the clinch successfully.
Monroe effectively controlling the action here.
Monroe gets a warning from the ref for wasting time.
Monroe comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Monroe misses with a knee strike.
Monroe tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Gracie changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Monroe fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Monroe fails in his attempt to clinch.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Monroe as he jumps to the side.

Monroe dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Gracie. That did some damage!

Monroe using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Gracie has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Gracie gets control of Monroe's arms and successfully pulls guard. Gracie will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Gracie wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Monroe got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gracie has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Monroe has managed to get both his arms back between Gracie's legs - danger averted.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gracie is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Monroe defends well.

Gracie looking to hit a scissor sweep but Monroe is one step ahead there.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gracie has his foot on Monroe's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Monroe works his way back into a safe position though.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Gracie looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Monroe is fending him off so far but Gracie persists. Nope, Monroe circles away and we're back to standing.
Dan Monroe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gepetto Gracie.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Gracie throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Monroe's waist but Monroe gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gracie off to one side.
Gracie stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Monroe.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Dan Monroe will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Monroe pushes Gracie up against the cage in a clinch.
Monroe gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Gracie.
Gracie is looking to control Monroe's arms but Monroe gets an underhook and turns him. Now Gracie has his back to the cage.
Monroe tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Monroe lands an elbow inside that Gracie shrugs off.
Monroe with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Gracie jumps guard but Monroe stands there with Gracie around his waist. Gracie gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Gracie is working for takedown but Monroe is calmly controlling the position for now.

Monroe is pressed up against the cage. Gracie has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Monroe down to the mat. Monroe avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Monroe wants to clinch up but Gracie keeps it at a distance.

Gracie closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gracie lands in his opponent's guard.
Gracie trying to control the position from guard on top but Monroe is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Gracie might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Monroe kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Gracie loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Gepetto Gracie hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Monroe has closed the distance and engaged Gracie in a clinch.
Monroe throws a knee to the head but misses.
Monroe looking to throw knees to the head but Gracie is blocking nicely.
Monroe tries to land a knee to the head but Gracie blocks with his arms.
Gracie manages to pull guard.
Gracie looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Gracie is looking to sinch up a triangle. Monroe throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Gracie's body to avoid the submission. Gracie has instead reached around Monroe's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Gracie arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
