Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dan Quinn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesus Mendes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quinn kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is BRANDED by Faces Of Mars. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mendes throws a push kick but Quinn slaps the foot to one side. Mendes pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Quinn moves into the clinch. Quinn looking for a takedown. Mendes keeps control of Quinn as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Quinn fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mendes avoids it really well and circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dan Quinn. That's going to take a lot out of him. Quinn connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
That's one minute gone in the round. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Quinn checks a leg kick. A head kick misses from Mendes. Mendes lands a nice looking kick to the body. Quinn takes a step back to recover. Mendes throws a leg kick which misses Quinn's front leg but catches the back leg as Quinn tries to avoid it. Mendes finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Quinn closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Quinn gets control of Mendes's arms and successfully pulls guard. Quinn will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Quinn being controlled here, momentarily. Quinn doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Mendes must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Quinn is working hard here to advance position. Mendes is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Quinn looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Quinn throws his legs up looking for a submission but Mendes uses it to pass to side control.

Mendes pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Quinn tumbling to the mat - Mendes dives into Quinn's guard. Quinn looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Mendes throws a big right hand that misses. Mendes passes into half guard. Quinn is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mendes pulls his head out easily. Mendes wants to take a breather but Quinn is having none of it. Quinn is trying to get back to full guard.

He's now off balance and Mendes manages to pass to side control. Mendes wants to lay and pray for a moment but Quinn keeps working. An elbow from Mendes crashes against the mat.

And that's the end of the fight! Jesus Mendes comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Mendes has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
