Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chris Riley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Renan Pegado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chris Riley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Renan Pegado! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Edson Gomes and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pegado looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Pegado is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Riley's half guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Pegado trying to control from half guard but Riley is working away. Pegado blocks the strikes from Riley.
Pegado is keen to just control but Riley is a slippery customer. Riley tries to kick Pegado off but Pegado keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Riley tries to roll over but Pegado keeps him under control. Riley trying to control but Pegado postures up.
Riley kicks Pegado off and gets back to his feet. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Riley is defended easily by Pegado. Pegado tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Riley was well out of range. Poor timing from Pegado.
That's one minute gone in the round. Riley shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Pegado as he jumps to the side. Riley looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Left hook, right uppercut from Riley. Pegado will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Riley gets the takedown into side control. Pegado tries to buck Riley off but Riley is having none of it. Riley working the head with strikes. Riley cracks Pegado with an elbow. That is naaassty. Pegado wants to control but Riley postures up. Riley trying to control the action but Pegado is working from the bottom. The referee asks Riley politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Riley prefers to stall for the moment though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Riley in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Pegado tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Riley wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Riley is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Pegado is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Riley misses with the ground and pound. Pegado is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Riley off and has taken his back! Pegado has the hooks in. Riley is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Pegado not allowing Riley to control his hands. I really don't envy Riley right now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Riley has hold of Pegado's arm. He needs to escape this position sooner or later but for now he's happy enough to control the position and prevent the submission attempts. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Riley turns into Pegado and is now in his guard.
Riley is breathing heavily. Riley postures up in Pegado's guard and throws a big left but Pegado blocks it. Pegado is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Riley is controlling him. Riley might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Pegado manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
You get the feeling that Riley really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Riley is wriggling around trying to escape.
Pegado trying to control but he's not successful this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Riley tries to hold on but Pegado postures up. Pegado is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Pegado breaks from Riley's wrist control and lands an elbow. Riley is trying to reverse the position but instead Pegado has taken his back - oops! Pegado throwing damaging strikes from the back! Riley could be in trouble here!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Pegado is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Riley with him. Riley is trying to defend but Pegado has an arm under the chin now! Riley grimaces and is forced to tap out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Renan Pegado!
