The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Albert Achterberg and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomes throws a leg kick which misses Emelyanenko's front leg but catches the back leg as Emelyanenko tries to avoid it.
Emelyanenko should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Emelyanenko gets caught napping as Gomes dives in and scores a takedown. Emelyanenko manages to retain guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Emelyanenko had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gomes defends it easily.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Emelyanenko has eaten all the pies!
Gomes has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Emelyanenko is proving hard to escape from.

Emelyanenko is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Gomes's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Gomes's back!
Emelyanenko is working for a rear naked choke. Gomes is not defending it well and Emelyanenko has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Gomes refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Gomes's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
