The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roller connects with a nice looking jab.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Cherry.
Roller rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Cherry moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Roller looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Roller misses with a looping left.
Stephan Roller seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cherry blocks a jab.
A jab lands there for Roller.
The fighters circling - Roller throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Cherry bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Roller throws a hook but Cherry avoids it easily.
Roller throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Cherry sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Roller fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Cherry looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Cherry moves out of range as Roller strikes.
Roller throws a right and a left that Cherry avoids nicely.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cherry works to advance to full mount. Roller defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
