Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Diego Salvidor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Orlando Martinez!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Matheus Silva and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Salvidor with a lazy takedown attempt

and Martinez counters by clinching up.

Martinez turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Martinez manages to end up in side control.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Salvidor tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Salvidor is working hard here to advance position.
Salvidor takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Salvidor bucks up and tries to throw Martinez off but instead Martinez has got his back!
Martinez just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Salvidor is trying to break free.

Martinez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Salvidor. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Martinez looking to break Salvidor's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Salvidor remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Martinez will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Salvidor tries to escape the position.
Martinez lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Martinez working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
You can see the frustration on Salvidor's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Salvidor wants to control his opponent's hands but Martinez gets his hands free.
Martinez doesn't have the hooks in and Salvidor manages to turn into his guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Martinez holds on and takes a little breather.
Salvidor wants to control from the top but Martinez keeps moving.

Salvidor is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Salvidor is breathing heavily.
Salvidor trying to control the position from guard on top but Martinez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Martinez is looking to stand up but Salvidor isn't so interested in that idea.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Martinez closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Salvidor's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Salvidor is on top in guard.
Salvidor wants to pass the guard but Martinez is keeping the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Martinez shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Salvidor napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Martinez has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Salvidor shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Martinez sprawls well. Martinez wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Salvidor gets slowly back to his feet.

Martinez controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Martinez wants to control from the top but Salvidor keeps moving.
Martinez stays in close to Salvidor's body and controls the position.

Orlando Martinez has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Martinez tries a head kick but it misses.
Diego Salvidor is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Salvidor is defended easily by Martinez.

and Martinez counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Martinez.

Salvidor wants to stand up but Martinez is controlling him.
Martinez pushes down on Salvidor's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Martinez works his foot free and advances to mount.
Salvidor wants to get back to his feet.

Martinez is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Salvidor can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Martinez is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Salvidor to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Salvidor shrugs it off.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Salvidor bucks up and throws Martinez to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!

Martinez shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Salvidor's guard.

Martinez wants to control from the top but Salvidor keeps moving.
Orlando Martinez has got the better of the ground game so far.

Martinez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Martinez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Salvidor working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Martinez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Salvidor is tightening it up a little... Martinez has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Martinez reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Martinez taps out! Nice BJJ there by Salvidor!
