Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rashad Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kano Shinomori (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rashad Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kano Shinomori! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A looping hook to the body misses from Shinomori. Jones does a little dance to reset his feet. Shinomori lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jones circles away quickly and effectively. Shinomori lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Jones at a distance.
Shinomori connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
It looks like Rashad Jones has been cut. Shinomori swings for the body but Jones moves out of range.
Jones keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Jab by Shinomori. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Shinomori misses with a body shot.
Shinomori misses with an uppercut. Jones saw that one coming. Shinomori lands with a hook. Jones tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Shinomori misses with a double jab
and Jones counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jones slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Shinomori keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones throws a big elbow that misses. Jones sitting in guard here, content to control.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Rashad Jones wasn't doing enough on the ground. Shinomori swings for the body but Jones moves out of range.
Shinomori slaps away a takedown attempt from Jones, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones moves out of range as Shinomori strikes. Shinomori throws a hook but Jones blocks it. Shinomori misses the shot to the body. Shinomori swings away with a body shot that misses
and Jones counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Jones. Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Shinomori is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Shinomori is looking to stand up but Jones isn't so interested in that idea. Shinomori utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Jones with a nice head shot there. Jones wants to control from the top but Shinomori keeps moving. Jones pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Shinomori is keeping the position for now. Jones wants to control from the top but Shinomori keeps moving. Jones is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Rashad Jones just wasn't active enough. Shinomori stuffs the takedown attempt from Jones. Jones gets slowly back to his feet. Shinomori loads up on a big right hand but Jones slips the punch. Shinomori throws a hook to the side of Jones's head but Jones sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Shinomori misses with a left hand and Jones decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Shinomori's guard. Jones passes Shinomori's right leg, so he's now in half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Jones thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Jones looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Jones tries to pass the half guard into mount. Shinomori knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Rashad Jones will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Rashad Jones's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Shinomori throws a big shot that misses. Jones pushes Shinomori up against the cage in a clinch. Jones can't get the takedown.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Rashad Jones. Shinomori swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Shinomori thows a left - swing and a miss! Shinomori waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Jones. Shinomori misses with a hook. Jones ducked under it nicely. Jones keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Shinomori. Shinomori looks to throw the jab but Jones is out of range. Rashad Jones is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A looping hook to the body misses from Shinomori. Jones does a little dance to reset his feet. Kano Shinomori seems to be getting the better of the standup. Shinomori throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

and Jones counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Jones. Jones is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Shinomori preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

so Jones counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. This has been an exciting period of action! Jones stands and throws Shinomori's legs to the side, diving into side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones landing a few strikes. Jones moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Shinomori prevents Jones from moving into mount. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jones happy to just control the position for now. Jones seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Shinomori for as long as he can get away with. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jones throwing strikes from guard but Shinomori blocks nicely. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jones is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Jones wants to control from the top but Shinomori keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones stands and throws Shinomori's legs to the side, diving into side control. Jones is putting a hurting on Shinomori here, landing some big shots from side control. Jones landing strikes. Shinomori pushes Jones away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Jones gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Shinomori is working to avoid the ground and pound but Jones connects with a decent elbow. Kano Shinomori has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones throws a strike aimed at the side of Shinomori's head but Shinomori avoids it well. Shinomori is pushing Jones's head away, looking to escape. Jones manages to hold on to the position though. Jones slows the pace down. Jones sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Shinomori is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Jones throws a strike aimed at the side of Shinomori's head but Shinomori avoids it well. Jones landing a few strikes. Jones has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Jones taking a breather here. Shinomori takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Jones taking a breather here. Jones lands a decent elbow from side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shinomori is working to avoid the ground and pound but Jones connects with a decent elbow. Jones controlling from side mount. Jones wants to control but Shinomori is keeping him busy. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Shinomori throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.
And that's the end of the fight! Rashad Jones showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jones, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
