PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aram Khorozian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Flok Numbers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Khorozian comes to the cage accompanied by Ants. Flok Numbers is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Aram Khorozian!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Flok Numbers!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khorozian with a poor takedown

and Numbers counters with a shoot takedown. Khorozian fights it but they end up in guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Numbers stays in close to Khorozian's body and controls the position.
Let's hope that Numbers has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Flok Numbers hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Khorozian with a lazy takedown attempt

and Numbers counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Khorozian's guard now.
Khorozian is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Numbers wants to stand but Khorozian has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Numbers seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Numbers really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Khorozian. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Numbers tries to stand but Khorozian is controlling from the bottom.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Flok Numbers wasn't active enough on the ground.
Khorozian tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Numbers counters by moving into the clinch.

Numbers pulls guard.
Numbers is pulling down on Khorozian's head. It's preventing any offense from Khorozian, at least for the moment.

Khorozian is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Numbers pulls Khorozian in to control the position.
Numbers thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Numbers looking to hit a scissor sweep but Khorozian is one step ahead there.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Flok Numbers hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

and Numbers counters by moving into the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aram Khorozian. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Numbers throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Khorozian blocks it with crossed arms.

Numbers gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Khorozian regains guard.
Numbers is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Numbers must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Numbers postures up in Khorozian's guard and throws a big left but Khorozian blocks it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Flok Numbers dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Numbers moves into range and clinches up with Khorozian.
Khorozian is trying to pull guard but Numbers turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Khorozian goes for a takedown attempt but Numbers pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Numbers escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Numbers moves into the clinch successfully.

Khorozian is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Numbers to keep the fight standing.

Numbers breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Numbers's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Numbers has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Numbers gets a double leg takedown into Khorozian's guard.
Numbers controls from within his opponent's guard.
Numbers tries to free his leg and advance position but Khorozian is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Numbers is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Numbers not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Flok Numbers was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Numbers moves into the clinch.

Numbers drags the fight down to the ground.
Numbers has his hands on Khorozian's head, controlling the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Numbers is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Flok Numbers wasn't active enough on the ground.

Numbers forces Khorozian back against the cage and clinches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Flok Numbers showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

and Numbers counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Numbers.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Khorozian wants a takedown but no success here.

Numbers gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Numbers is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Khorozian doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Numbers.

Still in half guard, Numbers seems content to control.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Numbers's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Flok Numbers hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Numbers closes the distance and pushes Khorozian back into the cage.
Numbers has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Numbers breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Numbers scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!


It looks like Aram Khorozian has been cut.

Numbers instigates a clinch.

Numbers's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Numbers has Khorozian up against the cage in a clinch.

Numbers pulls guard successfully.
Aram Khorozian has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Numbers is pulling down on Khorozian's head to control his posture.

Numbers escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Khorozian gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Flok Numbers comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Numbers has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
