PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Masahiko Kimura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aleksandr Fedorov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Masahiko Kimura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Aleksandr Fedorov!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kimura fails with the takedown.
Kimura keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Masahiko Kimura seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fedorov shoots in but Kimura avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Fedorov closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Kimura quickly recovers to half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Kimura moves into full guard.
Fedorov has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kimura is proving hard to escape from.
Kimura wants to sweep here but Fedorov controlling him for the moment.
Kimura might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Fedorov tries to stand but Kimura is controlling from the bottom.

Kimura is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Fedorov defends well.
Fedorov would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Fedorov tries to keep at a distance but Kimura has taken the fight into the clinch.

Masahiko Kimura has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aleksandr Fedorov.

Fedorov changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kimura looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Fedorov has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Kimura fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Kimura shoots in looking for a takedown. Fedorov tries to sprawl out of it but Kimura keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Fedorov manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Kimura is breathing heavily.
Fedorov throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kimura's waist but Kimura gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Fedorov off to one side.
Fedorov shoots in but no luck this time.

Kimura gets a clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Fedorov is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the ropes.

Fedorov manages to break the clinch.
Kimura shoots in looking for a takedown. Fedorov tries to sprawl out of it but Kimura keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Fedorov manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Fedorov shoots in for a double leg but Kimura sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

so Kimura counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Kimura pushes down on Fedorov's leg and manages to get into half guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kimura is working for a kimura but Fedorov is defending it quite comfortably.
Fedorov is trying to control but can't.

Fedorov stuffs the takedown attempt from Kimura. Kimura gets slowly back to his feet.
Kimura shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Fedorov pinned against the ropes. Fedorov gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Horrible takedown by Kimura or perhaps it was just good defense by Fedorov which made him look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Masahiko Kimura. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kimura shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Fedorov as he avoids it easily.

Fedorov shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kimura manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Kimura can't keep his opponent in guard - Fedorov advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fedorov is looking to take a break and control but Kimura is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Kimura is refusing to be controlled, as Fedorov sits in half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Aleksandr Fedorov was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Kimura is trying hard to land a takedown here. Fedorov sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Kimura wants to clinch up but Fedorov keeps it at a distance.

Fedorov feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Fedorov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kimura swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Aleksandr Fedorov has got the better of the ground game so far.
Fedorov is looking to advance position but Kimura won't allow it.
Fedorov moves into full mount! Kimura won't be happy about that!
Kimura slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Fedorov is trying to control. Kimura wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Aleksandr Fedorov wasn't active enough on the ground.
Kimura shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Fedorov but Fedorov pushes him off and we're back to square one.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Aleksandr Fedorov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Kimura working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Fedorov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Fedorov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Fedorov might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Kimura kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Kimura gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Aleksandr Fedorov is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
