Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James Martin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tommy Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Martin!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones fails to land the takedown.

Martin drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Martin postures up.
Martin tries to stand but Jones is controlling from the bottom.

Martin gets to his feet - Jones follows without any prompting.
James Martin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones shoots in but no luck this time.
No luck for Jones with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tommy Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Martin decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Martin is looking for a kimura but Jones is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Martin to get the leverage.
Jones is trying to get back to full guard.
Martin is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Jones!

Martin looking for a guillotine from mount but Jones is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Martin swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Jones is now in Martin's guard. A big mistake from Martin there, giving up the dominant position!

Martin looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Martin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Martin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jones doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jones manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Martin wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Jones manages to pass to side control.
Martin looks gassed!
Martin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Jones wants to lay and pray for a moment but Martin keeps working.
Jones controlling the pace.
Martin is trying to get back to full guard.

Martin looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jones trying to control from half guard but Martin is working away.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Jones is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Martin.
Jones lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Martin sprawling to the canvas. Jones follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Martin hang on?


It looks like James Martin has been cut.
Jones trying to control from half guard but Martin is working away.

Jones is trying to work for a kimura but Martin is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but James Martin will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Martin looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Martin drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Jones dives on top into guard.

Jones avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Martin isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Jones stacks Martin on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Jones!
Martin is breathing heavily.
Martin stops Jones from passing to mount.

Jones is looking to take a break and control but Martin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Jones is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Martin is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Martin is trying to get back to half guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
A nice combination there by Martin.
Jones throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Martin's waist but Martin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jones off to one side.
No luck for Jones with that takedown attempt.
Tommy Jones is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Jones closes this distance looking for a takedown but Martin circles away.

Martin shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Martin showed some decent athleticism there.

Martin is trying to work for a kimura but Jones is defending well.

Jones wants to control but Martin is keeping busy.
Martin wants to pass to mount but Jones is defending the position.

Martin is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jones doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Martin.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Jones is trying to stand back up but Martin is controlling him
Martin tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jones knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Martin is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Jones has managed to free his arm - good work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Jones misses with the combination.
Martin with a lazy takedown attempt
and Jones counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Jones scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Well, if Jones is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Jones gets caught flat footed, as Martin shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Martin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Jones is really struggling to control Martin but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Martin advances to half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Jones is trying to get back to full guard.
Martin wants to free his trapped foot but Jones is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Jones preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Martin seems to be looking for submissions.
Martin is pressing down on Jones's thigh, looking to free his foot. Jones is holding on for now.
Jones trying to control from the bottom.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Jones moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Martin passes Jones's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Jones is positioning himself well to prevent Martin advancing to mount.
Martin tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jones knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Martin is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jones doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Martin.

Jones has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Martin is working away from the top position though.

Martin escapes and gets back to his feet.

Martin darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Jones slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Martin drops back, looking for a kneebar! Jones looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Jones looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Jones!
Jones tries to advance to mount but can't.
Martin is trying to improve his position.
Martin is not content to let Jones control the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
James Martin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Martin winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
