3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, DJ Michihiro! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Kenichi Hosakawa and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Michihiro takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Michihiro looking to score a takedown here. Cruz is defending well but Michihiro drives through and ends up in Cruz's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Michihiro looking to sit in guard and control but Cruz gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Cruz is looking to work some ground and pound but Michihiro has wrist control. Michihiro utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Cruz postures up in Michihiro's guard and throws a big left but Michihiro blocks it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cruz throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Michihiro works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Cruz stopping the sweep attempt from Michihiro. Cruz throwing strikes from guard but Michihiro blocks nicely. Michihiro throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
