Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mark Read (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Axel Whitecoat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Read comes to the cage accompanied by Don't Fence Me In. Whitecoat comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Seven Nation Army kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Summer Carpenter and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Read slips under a jab.
Whitecoat shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Read defends it nicely.
Whitecoat throws a left and a right that both miss
and Read counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Some wild striking there from Whitecoat.
Whitecoat rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Read moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Sloppy strikes from Whitecoat. Those never looked like landing.
Axel Whitecoat seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Whitecoat tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Read pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Whitecoat works over Read's head and body with a nice combination.
Whitecoat throws a looping overhand right but Read ducks down to avoid it.

Read digs a right hand underneath Whitecoat's ribcage. Whitecoat let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Read has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Whitecoat is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Read lands with a light punch inside.

Read wants to take the fight to the mat but Whitecoat manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Read's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Whitecoat connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Read scrambles back to his feet.

Read tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Read lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Whitecoat closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Read did well to prevent Whitecoat getting side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Read tries to get to full guard but Whitecoat has control of the leg.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Read pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Whitecoat chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Read can pounce on him.

Read is pushing Whitecoat up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Read breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Read lands with a straight right. Whitecoat didn't see that one coming.
Mark Read is winning the standup battle so far.
Whitecoat shoots in for a double leg but Read sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Read fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Whitecoat has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Whitecoat walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Read throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Read jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Whitecoat walks away with a smile on his face. Read gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Whitecoat shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Read but Read pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Whitecoat fails to land with a series of punches.
Whitecoat takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Read jumps guard but Whitecoat turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mark Read showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Read, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
