Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Curtis Richard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ben Hammond!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Elvis Blanc and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richard looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hammond is fending him off so far but Richard persists. Nope, Hammond circles away and we're back to standing.
Hammond pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hammond ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Richard moves away.
Curtis Richard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Richard closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Hammond quickly recovers to half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Hammond is looking to get back to full guard here but Richard has managed to pass to side control instead.

Richard tries for a kimura but Hammond is defending well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The ground and pound from Richard seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Hammond really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Richard. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hammond tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Richard wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Richard looks up at the clock and then as Hammond takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Richard smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Hammond managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Richard.
Richard misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Richard working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Richard tries to score with some ground and pound. Hammond controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Richard is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hammond is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Richard is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Hammond has escaped the position, nice work there.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Richard has an Americana. Hammond didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Richard is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Richard hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Curtis Richard!
In his post fight interview, Curtis Richard started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
