PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Joe Carter!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Glass and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson is looking to clinch.
Jackson misses with the combination.
Jackson throws a right hand that Carter ducks under and follows up with a left that Carter also avoids with ease.
Carter avoids the head kick by Jackson.
Sloppy strikes from Jackson. Those never looked like landing.
Carter connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Carter throws a series of punches but Jackson moves out of range.
Carter tries a head kick but it misses.

Jackson instigates a clinch.
Carter has Jackson pressed against the cage, preventing Jackson from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Carter gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Carter is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Carter is working for a guillotine from mount but Jackson frees his head quite easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Carter controlling from mount.
Jackson is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carter is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Jackson can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Jackson is bucking up trying to escape but Carter cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Carter scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Carter is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Carter is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Jackson is breathing heavily.
Carter avoids a kick to the body.
Jackson tries to close the distance and clinch but Carter swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Carter avoids the head kick by Jackson.
Jackson leaves Carter with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Carter throws a head kick but Jackson moves out of range.
Jack Jackson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Carter takes the fight into the clinch.

Carter manages to break the clinch.
Carter avoids the head kick by Jackson.
Jackson fails with an attempt to clinch.

Carter manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Jackson on his heels. He'll look to pass Jackson's guard now, I'm sure.
Carter seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Let's hope that Carter has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Carter working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Jackson's head.
Carter slips nicely into half guard.
Jackson wants to get back to his feet.
Carter has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Carter seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Carter dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Carter shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Jackson is trying to escape back to his feet but Carter uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Jackson is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Carter is controlling him well.
Jackson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Carter on the ground.

Carter tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Carter looks up at the clock and then as Jackson takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Carter smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Carter is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jackson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Jackson is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Carter is controlling him well.

Carter decides to take the fight back to the feet.
A head kick misses from Carter.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jackson stuffs the takedown.

Carter scores with a takedown into Jackson's guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jackson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Carter stands and steps away. Jackson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Carter shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Jackson napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Carter lands a few punches from side control.

Carter decides to stand up, so the ref orders Jackson to his feet.
Jackson closes the distance but Carter moves to the side

and Carter counters with a takedown into side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Carter is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Carter lands an elbow.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Carter lands a few punches from side control.
Jackson taking a bit of punishment here - Carter scoring with strikes.
Jackson pushes Carter away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Carter gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Jackson takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Carter lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Jackson down.

Carter is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jackson has escaped the position, nice work there.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Jackson is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Carter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Jackson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Jackson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Carter, pushing him back against the cage.
A nice left hand lands by Carter.

Carter jumps guard and drags Jackson to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Carter is on top in guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Carter's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Carter stays in close to Jackson's body and controls the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Carter gets to his feet. Jackson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Jackson throws a body punch but Carter moves out of range.
Jackson tries to clinch

and Carter counters with a takedown into side control.
Carter lands an elbow.
Jackson is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Carter asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Carter has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Carter tries for a kimura but Jackson is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Jackson is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Carter asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Carter remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Carter has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Jackson!
Jackson wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jackson takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Carter looking for a guillotine from mount but Jackson is having none of it.
Carter controlling the pace for now.

Carter is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Jackson has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Carter landing strikes from the mount and Jackson is in trouble!

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Carter working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Jackson is trying to stand but he's just given Carter his back.
Jack Jackson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Carter has managed to slip his arm under Jackson's chin. This could be all over... yep, Jackson is tapping out! Submission win for Carter.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Joe Carter!
