The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brown gets tackled into the cage by Mangonie. Mangonie maintains the clinch. Brown lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Mangonie really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Mangonie decides to pull guard. Mangonie has his feet on Brown's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Mangonie changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Brown looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Brown sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Mangonie stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Brown to get to his feet. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Mangonie avoids a punch combination nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round. Mangonie closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Brown quickly recovers to half guard. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Mangonie lands a nice short elbow. Mangonie looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Brown has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. That's three minutes gone in the round. Brown is looking for a sweep. Mangonie is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Mangonie content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Mangonie passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Brown! Brown keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Mangonie let's go of the attempt for now. Mangonie connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Brown to escape the position.

Mangonie is trying hard to land a takedown here. Brown sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Mangonie takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Mangonie tries for a takedown but Brown sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Brown defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mangonie. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jay Mangonie. That's going to take a lot out of him. Brown tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Brown throws a low kick but Mangonie avoids it. Mangonie goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Mangonie moves into the clinch. Brown is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Mangonie to keep the fight standing.
