The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chiappe gets a takedown into half guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Austin tries to get to full guard but Chiappe has control of the leg. Austin regains full guard. Nicely done. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Chiappe wants to control from the top but Austin keeps moving. Chiappe tries to stand but Austin is controlling from the bottom. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Chiappe accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Austin is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Austin tries to land a sweep but no joy. Austin has his foot on Chiappe's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Chiappe works his way back into a safe position though. Chiappe keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Austin's head. Austin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Chiappe doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Austin is tightening it up a little... Chiappe has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Chiappe reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Chiappe taps out! Nice BJJ there by Austin!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Tyson Austin! Tyson Austin bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
