The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jay changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Johnson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Johnson is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Jay has just dragged him back down to the mat.
You can see the frustration on Johnson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Johnson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Jay wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jay is fighting to break Johnson's control of his arms but Johnson is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Johnson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jay is controlling him.
Johnson wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Callum Johnson.
Nice uppercut lands for Jay. That snapped Johnson's head back.


It looks like Callum Johnson has been cut.

Johnson's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Jay connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Johnson scrambles back to his feet.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jay loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Callum Johnson has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Johnson holds on to Jay around his waist, trying desperately to prevent any attacks.

Johnson tries to move into range but Jay moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Johnson seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Johnson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jay swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Jay wants to sweep here but Johnson controlling him for the moment.

Johnson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Jay manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Johnson has Jay in his guard.

Johnson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Callum Johnson.
Johnson drops his hands momentarily and Jay takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Jay closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Johnson did well to prevent Jay getting side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Johnson looks like he's trying to stand up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mr Jay.
