Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Aitch Bubbles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dexter Redshaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bubbles kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Ship Song - Nick Cave. Redshaw comes into a darkened arena with his song building. ACDC - Skies on Fire kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Aitch Bubbles could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Dexter Redshaw's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 4 - 2, fighting out of Sydney, Aitch Bubbles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 2, fighting out of Sydney, Dexter Redshaw!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Hugh Johnson and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Decent striking displayed by Bubbles there.
Redshaw fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Redshaw fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bubbles, pushing him back against the cage.
Bubbles on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Bubbles misses with a body punch.
Bubbles is trying to break free.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Redshaw is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Bubbles is defending well for now.
Bubbles scores with a shoulder strike.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Bubbles.
Redshaw tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Bubbles's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Redshaw looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bubbles is fending him off so far but Redshaw persists. Nope, Bubbles circles away and we're back to standing.

Bubbles ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Redshaw moves away.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Redshaw closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Redshaw is keen to just control but Bubbles is a slippery customer.

Bubbles is trying to maintain the position but Redshaw is very close to passing his half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bubbles is refusing to be controlled, as Redshaw sits in half guard.

Redshaw looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Bubbles with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Redshaw wants to free his trapped foot but Bubbles is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Bubbles tries to kick Redshaw off but Redshaw keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Redshaw has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Bubbles is staying active underneath Redshaw, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bubbles is on top in guard.
Redshaw wants to sweep but no luck.

Bubbles got a little sloppy there for a moment and Redshaw has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bubbles has managed to get both his arms back between Redshaw's legs - danger averted.

Bubbles is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Bubbles wants to stand but Redshaw is controlling his posture from full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Redshaw misses with a takedown attempt - Bubbles sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Redshaw shoots in looking for a takedown. Bubbles tries to sprawl out of it but Redshaw keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bubbles manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Redshaw is breathing heavily.
Bubbles misses with an uppercut. Redshaw saw that one coming.
Redshaw takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Redshaw finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Redshaw takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Bubbles tries to land a front kick but Redshaw steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Redshaw throws a low kick but it's checked well by Bubbles.

Redshaw fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Bubbles.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Redshaw manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Bubbles on his heels. He'll look to pass Bubbles's guard now, I'm sure.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Aitch Bubbles wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Bubbles swings for the body but Redshaw moves out of range.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Bubbles lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Redshaw has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Redshaw and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Bubbles connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Bubbles lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Bubbles fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Redshaw manages to avoid it.
Bubbles tries a low kick but Redshaw avoids it.
Redshaw throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bubbles's waist but Bubbles gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Redshaw off to one side.
Redshaw is trying hard to land a takedown here. Bubbles sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Aitch Bubbles has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dexter Redshaw.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Aitch Bubbles.
I think Bubbles has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
