Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dick Tanner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Nevsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dick Tanner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Nevsky! The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Valeri Chadov and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nevsky misses with a looping left. Tanner goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
It looks like Alexander Nevsky has been cut. Tanner gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Nevsky to score an easy takedown into full guard. Tanner is looking to stand up but Nevsky isn't so interested in that idea. Nevsky postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Nevsky with a flurry of punches that miss. Tanner keeping moving, preventing Nevsky from controlling successfully. Nevsky throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Nevsky prevents Tanner from getting back to his feet. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Nevsky accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Nevsky won't allow Tanner to sweep him here. Tanner lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Nevsky! Nevsky is working to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tanner wants to get back to his feet but Nevsky is holding on tight.
Nevsky is in all sorts of trouble here.
Nevsky is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Nevsky has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Nevsky tries to lock up and control but Tanner gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tanner wants to stand but Nevsky is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Nevsky wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back. A bit of a pause in the action here. Tanner controlling the positon. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. I really don't envy Nevsky right now.
Tanner is not going to allow Nevsky to sit and survive in this position. Nevsky is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Tanner is staying active. Nevsky tries to break free.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tanner has good solid back control here. You can see the frustration on Nevsky's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Tanner controlling the position well here. Nevsky rolled but Tanner kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Nevsky wants to control his opponent's hands but Tanner gets his hands free. A bit of a pause in the action here. Tanner controlling the positon. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Dick Tanner will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Alexander Nevsky's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Tanner scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Tanner tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Nevsky paws at him with a jab and circles away. Tanner clinches. Tanner throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Nevsky blocks it with crossed arms. Tanner throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Tanner crunches a lovely knee into Nevsky's ribcage. Tanner throws a knee to the head but misses.
Tanner is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Tanner throws an elbow but it's blocked.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Tanner just misses with a elbow thrown towards Nevsky's brow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nevsky blocks an elbow strike from Tanner.
Nevsky wants a takedown but no success here.
Nevsky gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Tanner gets full guard. Nevsky throwing strikes but missing. Tanner preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Tanner will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Nevsky won't allow Tanner to get back to his feet. Nevsky wants to control from the top but Tanner keeps moving. Nevsky in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Tanner pushes Nevsky off and scrambles back to his feet.
Nevsky tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Tanner swivels and escapes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nevsky throws a body punch but Tanner moves out of range. Tanner tries to close the distance and clinch up but Nevsky swats him away and circles back towards the center. Tanner scores with a jab to the body. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A head kick misses from Tanner. Dick Tanner is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Nevsky throws a hook to the side of Tanner's head but Tanner sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Nevsky on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Nevsky is breathing heavily. Tanner moves in looking to clinch but Nevsky pushes him off. Tanner has closed the distance and engaged Nevsky in a clinch.
Tanner throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Tanner with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Nevsky drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Tanner gets the underhooks and prevents it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Tanner is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Nevsky is defending well for now. Tanner stalling.

Tanner lands a leg kick that knocks Nevsky off balance momentarily. Nevsky takes a shot right to the bread basket. Dick Tanner is winning the standup battle so far. Tanner moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Tanner fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Nevsky, pushing him back against the cage. Tanner pushes off an throws an elbow but Nevsky leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Tanner lands an elbow inside that Nevsky shrugs off. Tanner lands a hook that snaps the head of Nevsky backwards. Tanner taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
With the fighters up against the cage, Tanner throws an elbow but misses. Tanner leaning his opponent against the cage. Tanner comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Tanner creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Tanner throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Nevskys head. Nevsky is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Nevsky takes a knee right on the jaw!
Nevsky takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. With the fighters up against the cage, Tanner throws an elbow but misses. Nevsky is working for takedown but Tanner is calmly controlling the position for now. Dick Tanner is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Dick Tanner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alexander Nevsky.

Alexander Nevsky has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Nevsky has Tanner pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Tanner manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Nevsky takes an elbow to the temple.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Tanner tries a knee to the head but Nevsky blocks it.

And that's the end of the fight! Dick Tanner showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Tanner, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
