Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matheus Araujo Jr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jorge Cazarez! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Felipe Paraventi and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Araujo Jr thuds his shin into the meat of Cazarez's side. Araujo Jr lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Cazarez circles away quickly and effectively. Cazarez has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Araujo Jr. Cazarez looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Cazarez looks gassed! Araujo Jr misses with a few strikes there.
Araujo Jr throws a series of punches but Cazarez moves out of range. Araujo Jr throws a right hand that Cazarez ducks under and follows up with a left that Cazarez also avoids with ease. Araujo Jr misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Matheus Araujo Jr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cazarez takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Araujo Jr throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Araujo Jr throws a left and a right that both miss
so Cazarez counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Cazarez prevents Araujo Jr from getting back to his feet. Cazarez postures up.
Cazarez pushes down on Araujo Jr's leg and manages to get into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cazarez maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Araujo Jr could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Cazarez has cracked it and Araujo Jr is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Cazarez!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jorge Cazarez! Jorge Cazarez tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
