Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steve Pharaoh! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Fresenius James! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Reed Andrews and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pharaoh throws a head kick but James moves out of range.
Pharaoh takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Pharaoh with a poor takedown and James counters with a lovely shot to the body. Pharaoh throws a sloppy head kick and James counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. James scores with a hook to the body. Pharaoh takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. A jab lands there for James. James with a hook. James cracks Pharaoh with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Pharaoh lands with a straight right. James didn't see that one coming. James connects with a crisp jab. Pharaoh misses with a head kick.
James throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Pharaoh stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Pharaoh shoots in but no luck this time. Pharaoh shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. James defends it nicely. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Pharaoh. That's going to take a lot out of him. Pharaoh shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with James but James pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's one minute gone in the round. James swings for the body but Pharaoh moves out of range.
James lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Pharaoh bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. James tries to bench press Pharaoh off him but Pharaoh keeps the position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if James can do anything to dispel that myth. Pharaoh has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. James swats away the attempt to clinch by Pharaoh. Pharaoh throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Pharaoh clinches up against the cage. James digs a right hand into Pharaoh's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Pharaoh's gas tank. James can't find room to land a body shot as Pharaoh controls the action.

Pharaoh has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but James can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pharaoh is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Pharaoh is breathing heavily. Pharaoh is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. James is aware though and is defending well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. James stands up and waves to Pharaoh to follow him. Pharaoh takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

That's three minutes gone in the round. James keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Pharaoh shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and James counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. James lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
James thuds his right hand into Pharaoh's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Pharaoh is rocked! Pharaoh looks to land a combination but James avoids it well. Pharaoh takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Pharaoh misses with a two punch combination.

His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Pharaoh takes one to the chin there. Fresenius James seems to be getting the better of the standup. Pharaoh takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. James scores with a nice strike. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Pharaoh misses with a jab, cross combination.
