Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Edmundo Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jake Sato!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Matheus Silva and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sato tries to sprawl but Jr drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Jr content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Sato tries to kick Jr off but Jr keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Edmundo Jr has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Sato tries to land a front kick but Jr steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Jake Sato is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Jr.

Jr shoots in and bounces Sato off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Jr controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sato tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Jr makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Jr slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Sato tries to clinch up but Jr circles away and keeps his distance.
Jr on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Sato pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Edmundo Jr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jr blocks a head kick by Sato.
Jr throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sato's waist but Sato gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jr off to one side.
Sato fails with an attempt to clinch.
Jake Sato is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Sato rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jr moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Sato keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Sato keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Sato drives through and clinches with Jr against the cage.
Sato keeps control of Jr as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Sato lands an elbow inside that Jr shrugs off.

Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Jr changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Sato fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Edmundo Jr. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Sato is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Edmundo Jr overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Sato is trying to hold Jr in close to prevent damage but Jr has managed to pass into half guard.
Jr looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Sato with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Sato looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Jr pushes past his half guard into mount!

Jr lands a big shot to the head and Sato winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
