Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chuck Lee! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hiroko Mayamoto! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Sosuke Kotani and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mayamoto fails with an attempt to clinch.
Mayamoto shoots in for a double leg but Lee sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Lee blocks a head kick by Mayamoto.
Lee throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Mayamoto's head. A head kick misses from Lee. Mayamoto has Lee up against the ropes in a clinch.

Mayamoto should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Mayamoto breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Mayamoto misses the shot to the body. Lee lands a body shot.
Hiroko Mayamoto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mayamoto tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Lee paws at him with a jab and circles away. Mayamoto takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Lee fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Lee throws a sloppy head kick and Mayamoto moves out of range easily. Lee lands a big head kick that sends Mayamoto tumbling to the mat! Lee takes a step backwards and waves Mayamoto back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Mayamoto is rocked! Mayamoto shoots in for a takedown but Lee shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Mayamoto is still on wobbly legs! Can Lee finish him? Mayamoto moves in looking to clinch but Lee pushes him off. Mayamoto tries to close the distance and clinch but Lee swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Mayamoto wants to clinch. Mayamoto clinches up with Lee and pushes him back against the ropes.

Mayamoto keeps control of Lee as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Mayamoto seems to have recovered his senses. Mayamoto scores with a nice hook to the head. Mayamoto with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Lee is trying to push Mayamoto away but Mayamoto has him pressed against the ropes, so he's going nowhere. Mayamoto breaks the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Lee throws a sloppy head kick and Mayamoto moves out of range easily. Lee jabs at Mayamoto's body. Lee lands a head shot. Mayamoto fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Chuck Lee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hiroko Mayamoto. Mayamoto looks gassed! Lee throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Mayamoto stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Mayamoto tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lee sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mayamoto somewhat. Mayamoto throws a combination that misses and Lee counters with a head kick that drops Mayamoto to the mat! Mayamoto scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly! Mayamoto fails with an attempt to clinch.
Mayamoto is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Mayamoto looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Mayamoto is trying desperately to land a takedown but Lee is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Mayamoto. Lee tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in the close the distance. Mayamoto manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Mayamoto throws a leg kick enabling Lee to counter with a crisp jab. This has been an exciting period of action! Nice takedown defense from Mayamoto. No joy for Lee on that attempt. Mayamoto rushes Lee and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch. Lee avoiding damage as Mayamoto throws knees to the body.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Lee is looking to break free of the clinch but Mayamoto has double underhooks. Lee wants to break free but Mayamoto has control.

Chuck Lee dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Mayamoto closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes. Mayamoto drags the fight down to the ground.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Lee wants to control from the top but Mayamoto keeps moving. Lee avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Lee wants to stand but Mayamoto is controlling his posture from full guard. Mayamoto is looking to stand up but Lee isn't so interested in that idea. Lee trying to control but Mayamoto is working from the bottom. Mayamoto is pulling down on Lee's head to control his posture. Lee distracts Mayamoto with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lee accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Lee throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mayamoto works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Mayamoto wriggles free and stands up. A low kick from Mayamoto is predictable there and Lee counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Lee rushes Mayamoto and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch. Mayamoto works on Lee's body with a couple of short punches. Lee has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Lee avoiding damage as Mayamoto throws knees to the body.

Lee clinches. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Mayamoto throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Both fighters working to control the clinch. Lee is trying to force a seperation but Mayamoto has the dominant position. A battle for position here, against the ropes. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Lee tries to work over Mayamoto's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Lee breaks from the clinch.
Lee shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mayamoto as he avoids it easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chuck Lee dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Lee is trying to pull guard but Mayamoto has him pressed against the ropes. Mayamoto has Lee pressed against the ropes, preventing Lee from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Lee jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mayamoto walks away with a smile on his face. Lee gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chuck Lee. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mayamoto tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lee swats him away and circles back towards the center. Mayamoto shoots in looking for a takedown but Lee manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mayamoto's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Lee misses with a head kick.
Lee misses the jab. Lee tries to clinch up and Mayamoto counters with a nice low kick that buckles Lee's knee momentarily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mayamoto moves into the clinch. Mayamoto misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Lee.

Mayamoto manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Mayamoto takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Lee won't allow Mayamoto to get back to his feet. Lee throws an elbow that misses. Mayamoto uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Lee's guard. Nice move by Mayamoto! Mayamoto throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Mayamoto sitting in guard here, content to control. Mayamoto looking to sit in guard and control but Lee gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mayamoto has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Lee throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Mayamoto preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Lee throws a big elbow that misses. Lee prevents Mayamoto from getting back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mayamoto is edging up against the ropes. He's using the ropes to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Mayamoto misses with an elbow over the top. Lee taking a breather. Lee wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Lee wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Mayamoto drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

and Lee counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Lee circles away from the clinch attempt and Lee counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Lee stops Mayamoto from standing up. Lee in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Lee trying to stand up but can't free himself from Mayamoto's guard. Lee with a nice head shot there.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Chuck Lee. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Lee, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
