PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Wojciech Fons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hriday Kakkar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fons comes to the cage accompanied by Ajron Men. Kakkar has chosen The Call of Ktulu as his entrance music. The key to victory for Wojciech Fons has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Wojciech Fons!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Hriday Kakkar!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fons looks to land a body kick but Kakkar moved away.

Kakkar bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Kakkar laying and praying for a moment but Fons takes advantage and regains half guard.
Kakkar is keen to just control but Fons is a slippery customer.
Fons is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Kakkar scores with a couple of nice shots.

Kakkar wants to free his trapped foot but Fons is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Kakkar uses his free foot to push down on Fons's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Fons.
Fons is trying desperately to improve position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kakkar connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Kakkar can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Fons is looking to escape.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Kakkar cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Fons is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Fons takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Kakkar is landing with some decent strikes but Fons is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Kakkar landing strikes from the mount and Fons is in trouble!
Kakkar tries to control but Fons wriggling away.
Kakkar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fons. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Fons tries to hold on but Kakkar pushes him away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kakkar landing shots from mount.
Fons taking shots to the head.
Kakkar lands a nice shot to the head.
Kakkar takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Fons sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Kakkar looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Kakkar slips a nice elbow through Fons's hands, connecting with Fons's forehead.

Kakkar looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kakkar moves into full mount! Fons won't be happy about that!
Kakkar pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Fons is working to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fons gets back to half guard.
Kakkar wants to free his trapped foot but Fons is holding on for dear life with his legs.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fons moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Kakkar stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fons swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Fons really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Fons wants to stand up but Kakkar is controlling him.
Kakkar trying to control the position from guard on top but Fons is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Fons is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kakkar is aware though and is defending well.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kakkar stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fons swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Fons keeping moving, preventing Kakkar from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hriday Kakkar dominated that round.
That's time! Fons's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Kakkar tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
A chopping leg kick lands by Fons.
Fons throws a head kick that misses.
Fons lands a head kick. Kakkar smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Fons lands a nice looking body kick.

Fons gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Fons not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Fons bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kakkar's guard.
Fons prevents Kakkar from getting back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fons is fighting to break Kakkar's control of his arms but Kakkar is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Fons trying to control but Kakkar is working from the bottom.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kakkar can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Wojciech Fons.
Fons thumps Kakkar with a low kick.
Crunch! Fons slams his shin into Kakkar's torso.
Fons turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Kakkar looking to score a takedown here. Fons is defending well but Kakkar drives through and ends up in Fons's guard.
Hriday Kakkar has got the better of the ground game so far.
Kakkar with a flurry of punches that miss.

Fons is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Kakkar rolls with it to try and escape but Fons cranks on the arm and Kakkar is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Wojciech Fons!
Wojciech Fons retains his featherweight title!
Our winner, Wojciech Fons, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
