Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jim Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Rios (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rios has chosen Beware as his entrance music. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jim Jones!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chris Rios!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rios misses the shot to the body.
Rios tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Jones throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jones just misses with a punch to the body.
Jones bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Rios takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Jones lands the left hand.
Rios looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Jones swats away the attempt to clinch by Rios.
Rios fails with an attempt to clinch.

Rios fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Jones, pushing him back against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Jones breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Rios tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Jones manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Rios avoids a punch combination nicely.
Jones throws a head kick that misses.
Jones pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Jones tries to close the distance and clinch but Rios swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Jones throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rios takes one to the chin there.
Jones scores with a crisp jab that stopped Rios in his tracks.

Jones closes the distance and clinches.
Rios is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Jones connects with an inside leg kick.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jones misses with a head kick.
Rios takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.


It looks like Chris Rios has been cut.
Jones lands with a straight right. Rios didn't see that one coming.
Rios throws a left and a right that both miss
and Jones counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Rios looks gassed!
Rios has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Jones.

A head kick lands from Jones that sends Rios to the canvas. Rios tries to scramble back to his feet but Jones brings him back down into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rios looking for a sweep but Jones has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Jones misses with a head shot.
Rios really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jones. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Poor strikes thrown by Jones there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Jones throwing strikes here but Rios is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Rios is squirming around, avoiding Jones's attempts to control the action.

Jones looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Jones throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Jones with the ground and pound from mount.

Jones working for a guillotine from mount but Rios is in no mood to give up.

Jones working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Rios is trying desperately to improve position.
Jones trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Jones controlling from mount.
Rios can't escape the position.
Rios avoids a series of strikes thrown by Jones.
Jones fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Jones looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Rios wants to hold on but Jones pushes him away.
Jones looking to control but Rios is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Rios really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Rios flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Jones controlling the position easily from mount.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jones's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Jones prevents Rios from getting the reversal.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
The referee warns Rios that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Rios is working to get back to half guard.

Jones looking for a guillotine from mount but Rios is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jim Jones dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Chris Rios's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Rios takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Chris Rios seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Rios moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Rios fails with an attempt to clinch.

Jones moves into the clinch.

Jones manages to break the clinch.

Jones moves into range and clinches up with Rios.
Jones lands with a left to the head.
Rios throws a head punch that misses.
Jones is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rios can do to turn this around?
Jones pushes Rios back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Jones prevents Rios from breaking the clinch.
Rios misses with a punch to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Jones just misses with a elbow thrown towards Rios's brow.
Jones blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Rios misses with a hook to the ribs.
Rios misses with the head strike.

Jones stalling against the cage.
Still in the clinch, Jones scores with a nice short uppercut.
Jones scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Jones blocking some punches.
Jones using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Rios being controlled against the cage.
Jones putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Rios in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Rios is breathing heavily.
Jones throws a knee to the head but misses.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rios tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Jones manages to break the clinch.
Jones with a body punch. A glancing blow.

Jones lands a left and a right that sends Rios crashing to the canvas! Jones dives into mount looking to finish!

Jones looking to ground and pound but Rios is blocking nicely.
Jones takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Jones working for a guillotine from mount but Rios is in no mood to give up.

Jones looking to isolate an arm here. Rios doesn't see it coming and as Jones extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Jones!
