Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Big John! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bill Goldberg! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Goldberg moves out of range as John strikes. Goldberg throws a right and a left that both miss. Goldberg shoots in looking for a takedown. John tries to sprawl out of it but Goldberg keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. John manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. John misses with an uppercut. Goldberg throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Goldberg drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Goldberg decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on John, up you get! John throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Goldberg counters with a takedown into side control. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Goldberg wants to lay and pray for a moment but John keeps working. John tries to get back to half guard but can't. John struggling a bit here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Goldberg has knee on belly and moves into mount. John knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Goldberg on the ground. Goldberg lands with some strikes. The referee warns John that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
John tries to control Goldberg's body but Goldberg pushes him off. John squirms to his side and now Goldberg has his back! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. John turns into Goldberg and is now in his guard.

This has been an exciting period of action! Goldberg has a closed guard, preventing John from standing up. John won't allow Goldberg to sweep him here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Goldberg is trying to keep John in close.
John stands up and waves to Goldberg to follow him. Goldberg pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Goldberg fails with a takedown attempt. John takes a swing at Goldberg's ribcage but misses. Goldberg will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Big John has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bill Goldberg. Goldberg closes this distance looking for a takedown but John circles away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Goldberg tries to clinch up. John looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Goldberg tries to clinch there but John circles away.
John throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Goldberg counters with a single leg into guard. John didn't expect that. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Goldberg is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. John looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Goldberg trying to control but John is working from the bottom. John pulls Goldberg in close to his closed guard and prevents Goldberg from doing any damage or advancing position.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Bill Goldberg. John misses with a double jab
and Goldberg counters with a single leg into guard. John didn't expect that. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. John trying to control the position.
Goldberg trying to control but John is working from the bottom. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. John wants to sweep here but Goldberg controlling him for the moment. John will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. John pulls Goldberg in close to prevent any damage. Goldberg throws a big right hand that misses.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Goldberg stands and steps away. John gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Goldberg tries for a takedown but John sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Goldberg closes this distance looking for a takedown but John circles away. John throws a combination. Goldberg tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! John thows a left - swing and a miss! Goldberg tries to clinch but John is having none of it. John scores with a shot to the body.
John looks to score with a jab to the body but Goldberg is just out of range. Goldberg scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. John pushes Goldberg off looking to stand but Goldberg dives back in and keeps control.
Goldberg seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Goldberg looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's six minutes gone in the round. John is looking for a sweep. Goldberg is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Goldberg missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Goldberg thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed John's head. Goldberg is looking to stall here but John recovers full guard. John trying to control the position.
John manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's eight minutes gone in the round. John wants to control the pace but Goldberg is squirming around nicely. Goldberg regains half guard. Goldberg trying to control here.
Goldberg is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute John jumps into side control!
That's nine minutes gone in the round. John controls the position. Goldberg wants to control but John postures up. John slows the pace down. Goldberg tries to bench press John off him but John keeps the position. You can see the frustration on Goldberg's face as John controls the position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. John trying to control the position but Goldberg is working away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bill Goldberg dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Goldberg has closed the distance and engaged John in a clinch.
John wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Goldberg lands a body shot in the clinch.
John throws a punch but it's blocked by Goldberg. John gets underhooks to prevent Goldberg's takedown attempt.
John can't find room to land a body shot as Goldberg controls the action.
John wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Goldberg has him pressed against the cage. John's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. John uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Goldberg.
Goldberg misses with a low kick. John lands a two punch combo.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Oooooh!!! John has knocked Goldberg down with a huge combo! John steps away and waves a wobbly Goldberg back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
It looks like Bill Goldberg has been cut. John throws an overhand right that drops Goldberg like a sack of potatoes! John dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!
