PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Turo Naulakallo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcel Duda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Naulakallo might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Tech N9ne: Riot Maker. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Turo Naulakallo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Marcel Duda!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Tarja Halkonen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Naulakallo shoots for a takedown but Duda saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Naulakallo wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Duda has him pressed against the cage.
Naulakallo lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Naulakallo prevents a takedown attempt there.
Naulakallo throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Duda blocks it with crossed arms.

Naulakallo pulls guard successfully.
Duda wants to pass the guard but Naulakallo is keeping the position.
Duda passes into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Naulakallo manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Naulakallo looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Naulakallo tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Naulakallo can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Duda controls the pace.
Duda scoring with some ground and pound.
Duda showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Duda makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Naulakallo controls Duda momentarily but Duda frees himself.

Naulakallo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Duda gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Naulakallo tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Duda must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Naulakallo is breathing heavily.
Duda looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Naulakallo keeping moving, preventing Duda from controlling successfully.

Naulakallo lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Duda!
Naulakallo wants to control the pace but Duda is squirming around nicely.

Naulakallo avoids the attempt from Duda to control.
Duda is looking to get to half guard.
Duda bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Duda is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Duda prevents Naulakallo from getting back to his feet.

Naulakallo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Duda gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Duda pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Naulakallo is keeping the position for now.

Naulakallo not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Duda wants to control from the top but Naulakallo keeps moving.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Naulakallo wants to clinch up but Duda keeps it at a distance.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Naulakallo shoots in looking for a takedown. Duda tries to sprawl out of it but Naulakallo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Duda manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Turo Naulakallo dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Duda can't escape the position.

Naulakallo stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Naulakallo shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Duda counters with a nice double leg into side control. Naulakallo won't be happy with that.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Naulakallo tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Duda wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Duda in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Naulakallo sneaks back into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Naulakallo manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Naulakallo is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Duda looking to pass the guard.

Naulakallo looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Naulakallo bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Duda's guard.
Naulakallo trying to stand up but can't free himself from Duda's guard.
Duda can't keep his opponent in guard - Naulakallo advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Naulakallo frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Naulakallo working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Duda looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Naulakallo! Submission of the night perhaps?
