Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Simon Lee! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Magzhan Magzhanbai! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Ivan Kurochkin and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Magzhanbai goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Nice takedown defense from Magzhanbai. No joy for Lee on that attempt. Magzhanbai shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lee sprawls well. Lee wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Magzhanbai gets slowly back to his feet. Magzhanbai slips a jab and a cross from Lee.
Magzhanbai shoots in for a takedown but Lee shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Magzhanbai looks gassed! Magzhanbai has a takedown stuffed. Simon Lee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Magzhan Magzhanbai. This fight brought to you by 5M nutrition - it's mmmmm tasty. Nice jab by Lee. Lee closes the distance and clinches. Lee's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Lee lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
This has been an exciting period of action! Lee shoots in looking for a takedown but Magzhanbai manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Lee's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Lee misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Magzhanbai ducks straight into an uppercut from Lee and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Magzhanbai manages to regain guard straight away.
Magzhanbai is rocked! Lee would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Magzhanbai is still in real trouble! Can Lee finish him?
That's one minute gone in the round. Lee gets to his feet - Magzhanbai follows without any prompting. Magzhanbai seems to have recovered his senses. Lee swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Lee throws a sloppy head kick and Magzhanbai moves out of range easily. Lee lands a big head kick that sends Magzhanbai to the canvas! Lee follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Simon Lee!
