Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jacek Kowalski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Neo Angin! The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Nard Betker and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kowalski tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Angin paws at him with a jab and circles away. Kowalski blocks a head kick by Angin.
Angin gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kowalski to score an easy takedown into full guard. Angin looking for a sweep. Not yet Angin, not yet. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Kowalski's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Angin keeping moving, preventing Kowalski from controlling successfully. Kowalski missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Kowalski knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Angin on the ground. Kowalski postures up.
Kowalski lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Kowalski has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Kowalski trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Angin throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
That's one minute gone in the round. Angin looking to control.
Kowalski trying to control the position from guard on top but Angin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kowalski drops back, looking for a kneebar! Angin looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Angin looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Angin! Angin stands up and we're back to a striking position. Angin tries to keep at a distance but Kowalski has taken the fight into the clinch. The referee is keeping an eye on Kowalski - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Angin wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Angin is trying to force a seperation but Kowalski has the dominant position. Kowalski slows down the pace here.
Kowalski goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kowalski doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Kowalski turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Kowalski manages to end up in side control. Kowalski working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Angin can't do much from the bottom here. Angin sneaks back into half guard. Angin is defending against the submission attempts here by Kowalski.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Angin trying to control but Kowalski postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Angin blocking the ground and pound attempt from Kowalski. Kowalski wants to work for an arm triangle but Angin is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Angin gets full guard. Angin is trying to keep Kowalski in close.
Kowalski trying to control but Angin is working from the bottom. Angin trying to keep a closed guard but Kowalski is proving a slippery customer.
Kowalski throws a strike but Angin rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Angin stopping the sweep attempt from Kowalski. Angin wants to stand but Kowalski is controlling his posture from full guard. Angin throws a big right hand that misses. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Kowalski holds on and takes a little breather. Kowalski looking to control.
Kowalski on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kowalski tries to get out of the position. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Angin preventing the sweep. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jacek Kowalski dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Kowalski misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Angin tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Angin throws a right hand that Kowalski ducks under and follows up with a left that Kowalski also avoids with ease. Angin lands a jab-cross combination. Kowalski forces Angin back against the cage and clinches. Angin missing with knees to the body.
Kowalski has Angin pushed against the cage. Kowalski misses with some punches.
Kowalski displaying some good clinch control by pressing Angin up against the cage. The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Kowalski for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure. Angin drops down looking for an ankle pick but Kowalski pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kowalski throws a leg kick but Angin sees it coming and moves out of range. Angin moves into the clinch. Kowalski has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Angin uses from the top position. Angin stopping the sweep attempt from Kowalski. Kowalski escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Angin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Angin trying to control but Kowalski is working from the bottom. Kowalski wants to sweep but no luck.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kowalski is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Angin makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Angin. Angin is looking to sinch up a triangle. Kowalski throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Angin's body to avoid the submission. Angin has instead reached around Kowalski's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Angin arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Neo Angin! In his post fight interview, Neo Angin started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
