The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beckenbauer moves out of range of the strikes.
Beckenbauer misses with a looping right.
Nice sprawl there from SP as Beckenbauer shoots in.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Beckenbauer shoots in but no luck this time.

Nice takedown defense from SP. No joy for Beckenbauer on that attempt.

This has been an exciting period of action!

SP gets the takedown into side control.
SP with the ground and pound but Beckenbauer regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
SP slips a nice elbow through Beckenbauer's hands, connecting with Beckenbauer's forehead.

SP wants to work for an arm triangle but Beckenbauer is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

SP stands up out of the half guard.
No luck for Beckenbauer with that takedown attempt.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
SP misses with a wild combination.

SP takes the fight into the clinch.
SP lands a hook that snaps the head of Beckenbauer backwards.

SP escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and SP counters with a leg kick.
SP stuffs the takedown attempt from Beckenbauer. Beckenbauer gets slowly back to his feet.

SP rushes Beckenbauer and presses him up against the cage.
SP gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Beckenbauer.

Beckenbauer breaks from the clinch.

Beckenbauer changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. SP looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Beckenbauer thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
SP is not content to let Beckenbauer control the position.
SP tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Beckenbauer works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
SP tries to bench press Beckenbauer off him but Beckenbauer keeps the position.
Beckenbauer wants to lay and pray for a moment but SP keeps working.

Beckenbauer decides to take the fight back to the feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from SP.
SP misses with a body shot.
SP moves in looking to clinch but Beckenbauer pushes him off.

Beckenbauer gets a clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

SP turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Beckenbauer avoids any damage from the ground and pound of SP.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Beckenbauer manages to get back to half guard.
Beckenbauer moves into full guard.
SP thows a big elbow that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but George SP will probably get the nod.

SP is throwing a storm of strikes! Right hook, left hook and follows it up with a spinning back fist! Beckenbauer hits the canvas like a rag doll! And just like that, this one is over!
