PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robbin Goossens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jed Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Walker has chosen God Demise as his entrance music. Walker has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Robbin Goossens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jed Walker!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Saam Ante and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Both fighters circling a little - Goossens finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Walker looks gassed!
Goossens is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Goossens misses the jab.
Goossens throws a body punch but Walker moves out of range.

Goossens darts in and clinches Walker up against the cage.
Walker takes an elbow to the temple.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Goossens tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Goossens escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Goossens tries to clinch up.
Goossens connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Goossens thows a body kick. Walker tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Goossens throws a series of punches but Walker avoids them all with ease.
Goossens fails with the takedown.

Goossens is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Walker's half guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Goossens wants to pass the guard but Walker is defending well.

Walker is trying to get back to full guard.
Goossens thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Walker's head.
Goossens uses his free foot to push down on Walker's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Walker.
Goossens connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Goossens really is a fat lump.
Goossens has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Walker's face.
Goossens can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Walker is looking to escape.

Goossens with shots to the head and body - Walker looks very uncomfortable down there.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Goossens working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Goossens lands a big shot there that rocks Walker but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Walker is trying to escape the mount.

Walker is in a horrible position here. Goossens smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Walker is trying desperately to improve position.
Walker wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Goossens knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Walker on the ground.

Walker is refusing to be controlled, as Goossens sits in half guard.
Goossens not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Goossens trying to mount his opponent but Walker defends it.
Walker tries to roll over but Goossens keeps him under control.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Goossens slips a straight right by Walker.

Goossens takes the fight into the clinch.
Goossens misses with the head strike.

Goossens breaks the clinch.

Goossens rushes Walker and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Walker wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Goossens is looking for a takedown.
Goossens wants to stall.
Goossens can't find room to land a body shot as Walker controls the action.

Goossens breaks from the clinch.
Walker stuffs the takedown.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Goossens fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Walker avoids it really well and circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Robbin Goossens. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Goossens drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Walker is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Goossens loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Goossens accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Goossens drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Walker dives on top into guard.

Walker is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Goossens is looking to stand up but Walker isn't so interested in that idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Goossens looking for a sweep. Not yet Goossens, not yet.
Walker pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Goossens is keeping the position for now.
Walker postures up.
Robbin Goossens overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Walker with a flurry of punches that miss.
Walker stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Goossens swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Walker not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Walker takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Walker tries to clinch but Goossens is having none of it.
Walker stuffs the takedown attempt from Goossens. Goossens gets slowly back to his feet.

Goossens looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Goossens lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Goossens throwing shots but Walker is blocking nicely.
Walker gets full guard.
Walker throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

Goossens is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Walker is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Walker has escaped and now he's on top!

Walker stands up and waves to Goossens to follow him.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Goossens tries to clinch there but Walker circles away.
Goossens tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
No luck for Goossens with that takedown attempt.
Goossens throws a sloppy head kick and Walker moves out of range easily.
Robbin Goossens is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Goossens closes the distance and clinches.
Goossens jumps guard but Walker turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Walker's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Goossens pulls out of a head kick attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Robbin Goossens dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Walker throws a right and a left that both miss.
Goossens rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Walker moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Goossens closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Walker did well to prevent Goossens getting side control.

Goossens is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Goossens seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Walker does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Goossens prevents Walker from improving his position.

Goossens is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Walker can do to turn this around?
Walker manages to get to full guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Goossens prevents Walker from getting back to his feet.
Walker manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Goossens manages to get himself to full guard.
Goossens keeping moving, preventing Walker from controlling successfully.

Walker stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Goossens lands a head kick. Walker smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Goossens takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Walker's jab looks to have found its range, popping Goossens under the eye.
Walker throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Goossens's waist but Goossens gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Walker off to one side.

Walker drives through and clinches with Goossens against the cage.
Walker scores with a shoulder strike.
Walker keeps control of Goossens as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Walker is looking for a takedown.
Goossens fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Goossens breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Goossens fails to land the takedown.
Walker shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Goossens but Goossens pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Robbin Goossens has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jed Walker.
Goossens avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Goossens tries to score a power double leg takedown but Walker sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Goossens somewhat.
Goossens with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Walker to score with a decent uppercut.
Jed Walker has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Walker has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Goossens after a bit of a struggle.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
A head punch on the inside from Walker fails to land.
Goossens is trying to pull guard but Walker has him pressed against the cage.
Robbin Goossens is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Walker is trying to force a seperation but Goossens has the dominant position.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Jed Walker.
Well Goossens has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
