Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shia Locke! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marc Van Nistelrooy! The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Arvi Lind and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Van Nistelrooy throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Locke sees it coming and avoids it easily. Van Nistelrooy misses with an uppercut. Locke saw that one coming. Locke tests Van Nistelrooy's chin there with a solid looking shot. Locke lands with a good body shot. Van Nistelrooy tries to clinch there but Locke circles away.
Van Nistelrooy swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Locke lands with a right hand. Van Nistelrooy pushing out the jab but it's not landing. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Van Nistelrooy takes a body punch but keeps moving. Van Nistelrooy scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Marc Van Nistelrooy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A nice leg kick lands there from Locke. Van Nistelrooy looks gassed! Van Nistelrooy fails in his attempt to clinch. Locke feints and then cracks Van Nistelrooy's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Van Nistelrooy down. Locke connects with a solid leg kick. Locke thuds his shin into the meat of Van Nistelrooy's side. Locke scores with a head kick.
It looks like Marc Van Nistelrooy has been cut. Locke misses with a head kick.
Locke fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Van Nistelrooy. An inside leg kick lands from Locke. Locke lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. A slapping leg kick lands for Locke.
That's one minute gone in the round. Locke throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Van Nistelrooy stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Locke is looking to clinch but Van Nistelrooy is avoiding it.
Good leg kick by Locke there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Locke scores with a body shot.
Locke lands a front kick to the face, that drops Van Nistelrooy to the canvas! Is he dazed or just shocked? He's back to his feet and the referee is going to allow him to continue the fight!
Van Nistelrooy is rocked! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Locke pushes Van Nistelrooy away with a front kick. Van Nistelrooy is still on wobbly legs! Can Locke finish him? Locke throws a nasty head kick that just misses. He throws another kick to the head of his opponent and almost takes it off! Van Nistelrooy crumples to the floor and the fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Shia Locke! An out of breath Shia Locke thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
