Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kamikaze Sazuki! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Michael Jones! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones shoots for a double leg takedown but Sazuki sprawls well. He's pushed Jones's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Kamikaze Sazuki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sazuki lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jones circles away quickly and effectively. Jones walks into a straight right hand from Sazuki. Sazuki scores with a sloppy right hand. Jones should have avoided that one. Sazuki scores with a punch to the head. Jones looks to land a left hand but Sazuki moved out of range nicely. Sazuki throws a right hand that Jones ducks under and follows up with a left that Jones also avoids with ease. Sazuki connects with a single shot there. Jones rushes Sazuki and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Sazuki wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Jones just leaning against Sazuki, taking a breather. Sazuki wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Jones's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Jones continues to stall. The referee tells him to work or he's going to break them up.

Sazuki wants to break the clinch but can't.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Jones. Jones tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Sazuki gets underhooks to prevent Jones's takedown attempt.
Kamikaze Sazuki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Jones. Jones tries to throw a body punch but Sazuki avoids it by throwing Jones back against the cage. Jones displaying some good clinch control by pressing Sazuki up against the cage. Jones is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Sazuki pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones misses with a punch on the inside.
Jones is struggling to control the position. The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Michael Jones. Jones blocks a head kick by Sazuki.
Sazuki throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Sazuki jabs at Jones's body. Jones slips a jab and a cross from Sazuki.
Sazuki's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Sazuki duly obliges. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jones blocks the body kick.
Jones walks into a stiff left hand from Sazuki. Jones throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sazuki was covering up waiting for the punch and Jones finishes the takedown easily into guard. Sazuki on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Sazuki tries to get out of the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Jones stops Sazuki from standing up. Jones works over Sazuki with some ground and pound from guard. Sazuki is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jones is controlling him. Jones wants to pass the guard but Sazuki is keeping the position. Jones not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones stops Sazuki from standing up.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Sazuki connects with a single shot there. Sazuki misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sazuki looks to land a combination but Jones avoids it well. Jones looks to land a right hand but Sazuki moved out of range. Sazuki throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Jones. Jones clinches up with Sazuki and pushes him back against the cage. Jones can't find room to land a body shot as Sazuki controls the action.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Jones fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Sazuki wants to break free but Jones has control.
Jones has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Sazuki clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Sazuki controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position. Well, with Jones on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Sazuki is tapping out... Can he escape the position? Jones throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Sazuki!

That's six minutes gone in the round. Jones misses with an elbow to the head. Sazuki wants to get back to his feet. Sazuki knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jones on the ground. Jones controls the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Jones throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch. Sazuki covering up well and avoiding damage.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Sazuki has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Jones. I would not like to be Sazuki right now.
Jones thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent. Even with his hooks in, Jones manages to miss with strikes from the back. Sazuki wants to get back to his feet.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Jones just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Sazuki has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke. Jones is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Sazuki is trying to get back to his feet but Jones has full control of the position and if anything, Sazuki has just worked his way into a worse spot. Jones lands punches and elbows. Jones throwing wild punches that miss their target. Jones is punishing Sazuki with some ground and pound. Sazuki looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Jones.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Sazuki. Sazuki swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Sazuki lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Sazuki misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Jones takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Sazuki pushes Jones away with a front kick. Sazuki with a body punch. A glancing blow. Sazuki keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Kamikaze Sazuki is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Sazuki pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Jones back to the cage. Sazuki follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sazuki throws a nice looking combination but Jones bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Sazuki looks to land a body kick but Jones moved away. Jones shoots in and drives through. Sazuki sprawls well. Jones shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sazuki as he jumps to the side. Kamikaze Sazuki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Jones. A cross from Jones lands. Sazuki scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Jones takes a swing at Sazuki's ribcage but misses. Jones throws a body punch but Sazuki moves out of range. Sazuki misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sazuki lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Sazuki. Sloppy strikes from Sazuki. Those never looked like landing. Sazuki falls off balance throwing a combination
and Jones connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Sazuki throws a solid leg kick but Jones takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Sazuki. Sazuki lands a nice looking kick to the body. Jones takes a step back to recover. Sazuki misses with a jab, cross combination.
Sazuki feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Jones's calf. Kamikaze Sazuki is winning the standup battle so far. Jones misses with a looping right. Sazuki throws a low kick but Jones avoids it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Some wild striking there from Sazuki.
Sazuki fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Jones throws a lazy right hand but Sazuki sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Jones fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Sazuki lands an overhand right. Sazuki throws a series of punches but Jones moves out of range. Jones fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Jones tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Sazuki swivels and escapes. Jones is breathing heavily. Jones gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Jones takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sazuki goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Sazuki throws a combination that misses and Jones counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Jones. Jones can't find room to land a body shot as Sazuki controls the action.

Jones throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Sazukis head. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sazuki prevents a body shot from Jones. Jones manages to break the clinch.

and Jones counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Sazuki throws a lazy uppercut
and Jones counters with a nice uppercut. Jones wants to clinch. Sazuki throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Jones takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Sazuki cracks Jones with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Jones fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Sazuki avoids it really well and circles away. Sazuki throws a sloppy head kick and Jones moves out of range easily. Sazuki throws a combination. Jones tries to block but a couple of punches get through. A kick lands to the mid section there for Sazuki. This has been an exciting period of action! Jones shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Sazuki manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Michael Jones has got the better of the ground game so far. Jones throws a big right hand that misses.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Jones controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Jones in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Sazuki keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Michael Jones. Jones gets a double leg takedown into Sazuki's guard. Jones is pushing down on Sazuki's leg trying to pass to half guard. Sazuki is fighting to maintain full guard but Jones has managed to sneak the leg through. Jones trying to control from half guard but Sazuki is working away.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Jones in particular looking to stall. Jones missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Sazuki on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Jones has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Jones content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
That's nine minutes gone in the round.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Kamikaze Sazuki wasn't doing enough on the ground. Sazuki just misses with a punch to the body.

and Sazuki counters with a lovely straight right hand! Jones tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sazuki sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jones somewhat. Sazuki takes a swing at Jones's ribcage but misses. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Sloppy strikes from Sazuki. Those never looked like landing.
And that's the end of the fight! Kamikaze Sazuki showed his dominance in that final round. I have no idea who won that fight. Let's wait and see whether the judges are as confused as me! Time for a split decision perhaps?!. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
