PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Psil Ander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carter comes to the cage accompanied by Walkie Talkie - DJ Shadow. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Psil Ander!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ander misses with a takedown attempt - Carter sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Ander shoots in looking for a takedown but Carter manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ander's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Ander shoots in for a takedown but Carter shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Andrew Carter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Psil Ander.
Ander thuds his shin into the meat of Carter's side.

Carter frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Carter misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Ander is desperately trying to improve his position but Carter has a good base and remains in mount.

Ander is staying active underneath Carter, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Carter is taking a breather. Ander says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Carter wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ander keeps working.

Carter looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Carter is trying to work for a kimura but Ander is defending well.

Carter is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Ander has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Carter can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Psil Ander will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Ander decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Ander wants to stand up but Carter is controlling the position.
Carter wants to improve his position but Ander is controlling well.

Ander is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Carter as he works his way to full guard.

Carter manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ander manages to get himself to full guard.
