The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Utley misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Golem uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Utley.
Golem dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Golem walks into a left hand.
Golem throws out a leg kick but Utley moves out of range and Golem only half commits.
Utley avoids the body shot from Golem.
Utley tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Golem was well out of range. Poor timing from Utley.
Utley dips to his left and cracks Golem with an uppercut!
Utley throws the left hand but Golem avoids the punch easily.
Golem motions for Utley to come forward. Golem throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Golem uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Utley.
Golem tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Utley was well out of range. Poor timing from Golem.
Utley works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Golem throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Golem misses with a two punch combination.
A jab from Utley does it's job there.
A big left from Utley misses.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Utley connects with a nice looking jab.
Utley lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Golem uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Utley.

Golem staggers Utley with a jab and knocks him down with a follow up straight! Utley looks in trouble, will he beat the count?! The count has reached 5 and he's only back to 1 knee - it's going to be close! 6,7,8 - he's up! Just in time and the ref is going to let the fight continue!

It looks like Chase Utley has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Golem throws a right hand that Utley ducks under and follows up with a left that Utley also avoids with ease.

Good leg kick by Utley there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Utley connects with the punch.
Utley lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Utley throws a lazy right hand but Golem sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Golem moves in looking to clinch but Utley pushes him off.
Utley is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Golem.
Golem swings for the body but Utley moves out of range.
Utley takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Golem tries to move into range but Utley moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Golem cracks the inside of Utley's front leg.
Golem is looking to wear down Utley with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Golem throws a leg kick that misses.
Utley goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Utley sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Utley lands a jab to the head.
Utley misses with a lunging right hand
and Golem counters with a straight right hand.
Golem misses with a body kick.
Golem thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Utley if he has to take too many more of those.
Utley looks gassed!
Golem lands a nice hook to Utley's body. Utley takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Golem scores a flash knockdown with a right hook that drops Utley to his hands and knees! The ref pushes Golem away as he looks to land an illegal blow. Utley got an extra few seconds to recover there, which could have made all the differences as he stumbles back to his feet. The referee looks into his eyes and decides to allow the bout to continue. Can he survive?!
Golem wants to clinch up but Utley keeps it at a distance.

and Golem counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Utley throws a shot from downtown. Golem moves away and avoids it.
Golem feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Utley's calf.
Golem throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Golem throws a leg kick which misses Utley's front leg but catches the back leg as Utley tries to avoid it.
Utley takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Utley drops his hands momentarily and Golem needs no second invitation. He sets himself and throws a perfect high kick, that clips Utley just on the top of the head. Utley drops like a sack of potatoes to the canvas, out cold! Oooooooh yeah! Stick a fork in Utley - he's done!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Geodude Golem!
A very excited looking Geodude Golem made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
