Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chris McPheters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lars Christiansen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chris McPheters! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lars Christiansen! The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Christiansen misses with a looping right. Jab by Christiansen. Lars Christiansen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Christiansen tries to bum rush McPheters with a series of wild strikes but McPheters uses good footwork to avoid the assault. McPheters looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Christiansen lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but McPheters circles away quickly and effectively. Christiansen throws a big shot that misses. Christiansen lands with a right hand. Christiansen comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Christiansen scores with a decent looking hook. McPheters shoots in but no luck this time. McPheters moves forwards but Christiansen connects with a nice, crisp jab. Christiansen misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Christiansen fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches McPheters on the side of the head. Christiansen defends well against a solid takedown attempt from McPheters. McPheters tries to score a power double leg takedown but Christiansen sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten McPheters somewhat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris McPheters. That's going to take a lot out of him. Christiansen misses the jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. Christiansen scores with a one two! McPheters had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. McPheters takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Christiansen's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Christiansen duly obliges. McPheters closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Christiansen quickly recovers to half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Christiansen is trying to get back to full guard. McPheters working Christiansen over with strikes. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McPheters working the head and body with strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Christiansen taking some punishment here, with McPheters in his half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! McPheters tries to pass to full mount but Christiansen defends it. Christiansen tries to roll over but McPheters keeps him under control. Christiansen punching from the bottom.

Christiansen lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for McPheters! McPheters is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Christiansen punching from mount but McPheters doing a good job of avoiding damage. A nice elbow there by Christiansen. Christiansen lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Christiansen looking to ground and pound but McPheters is blocking nicely. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Christiansen cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Christiansen controlling the pace for now. Christiansen won't let McPheters get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Christiansen controlling from mount. Christiansen is trying to control here but McPheters has managed to regain half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. McPheters is trying to stand up here but Christiansen is controlling him well. Christiansen looks to land a strike but McPheters avoids it nicely and regains full guard. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Christiansen sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed McPheters's guard. Christiansen trying to mount his opponent but McPheters defends it. Christiansen content to control rather than advance. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lars Christiansen dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

McPheters throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Christiansen works some decent striking defense from the bottom. McPheters looking to sit in guard and control but Christiansen gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Christiansen prevents McPheters from getting back to his feet. Christiansen trying to control the position from guard on top but McPheters is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Christiansen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McPheters swivels though and keeps the full guard. Christiansen trying to control but McPheters is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Christiansen trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. McPheters keeping moving, preventing Christiansen from controlling successfully. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Christiansen is stalling in the full guard.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Lars Christiansen. Christiansen lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Christiansen ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Christiansen misses with a left hand and McPheters counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. McPheters throws a strike but Christiansen rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Christiansen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McPheters swivels though and keeps the full guard. Christiansen has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. McPheters utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Christiansen postures up in McPheters's guard and throws a big left but McPheters blocks it. This has been an exciting period of action! Christiansen stops McPheters from standing up. Christiansen wants to pass the guard but McPheters is keeping the position. Christiansen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as McPheters works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Christiansen is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Christiansen wants to control from the top but McPheters keeps moving. Christiansen pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. McPheters is keeping the position for now. Christiansen stands and throws McPheters's legs to the side, diving into side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here. McPheters stops Christiansen from passing to mount. Christiansen misses with the ground and pound. McPheters is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Christiansen is controlling him well. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Christiansen wants to lay and pray for a moment but McPheters keeps working. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Lars Christiansen will probably get the nod - 10:9. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Christiansen tries to free his leg and advance position but McPheters is retaining full guard. Christiansen trying to move into half guard but instead McPheters has managed to sweep! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Christiansen is looking for a triangle but McPheters pushes his legs off easily.
McPheters stands up over Christiansen, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. McPheters loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Christiansen lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for McPheters!

Lars Christiansen is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Lars Christiansen has got the better of the ground game so far. Poor strikes thrown by Christiansen there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

And that's the end of the fight! Lars Christiansen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Christiansen has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
