Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rolando Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derick Larkin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Alves might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Ghostface Killah - The Champ. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Rolando Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Derick Larkin!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Donald Grub and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Larkin slips a jab and a cross from Alves.

Alves tries to stand but Larkin is controlling his head.
Larkin is trying to control Alves's posture but Alves avoids it.

Alves stalks Larkin and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Larkin's face. Larkin staggers backwards, shaken.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Alves content to control rather than advance.
Alves knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Larkin on the ground.

Larkin is refusing to be controlled, as Alves sits in half guard.

Alves stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Larkin to get to his feet.
Alves is looking to clinch.
Rolando Alves is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A combination from Alves does no damage.
Alves swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Larkin swats away the attempt to clinch by Alves.
Alves bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Larkin's head backwards.
Alves throws a nice looking combination but Larkin bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Alves stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Larkin.
Larkin is breathing heavily.
Larkin throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Larkin shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.


Larkin is rocked!
Larkin takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Larkin is still on wobbly legs! Can Alves finish him?

Nice shot lands for Alves.
Larkin attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Larkin seems to have recovered his senses.
Alves chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Larkin can pounce on him.
Alves rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Larkin moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Alves tries to bum rush Larkin with a series of wild strikes but Larkin uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Larkin, right into the meat.
Larkin dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Alves. That did some damage!

and Larkin counters with a leg kick.
Alves throws a series of punches but Larkin moves out of range.

Larkin shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Alves's guard.
Alves controls Larkin momentarily but Larkin frees himself.

Larkin slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Larkin postures up in Alves's guard and throws a big left but Alves blocks it.
Alves wants to get back to his feet but Larkin is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Larkin thows a big elbow that misses.
Larkin is looking to stand up but Alves won't let him.
Alves is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Alves misses with a wild combination.
Alves throws a series of punches but Larkin moves out of range.
A jab-cross combination lands for Alves and sends Larkin crashing to the mat! Alves follows him down to the mat - Larkin regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!


It looks like Derick Larkin has been cut.

Alves is just content to waste time from the top position. Larkin takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Larkin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Alves doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Alves manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

and Alves holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Larkin jumps guard but Alves stands there with Larkin around his waist. Larkin gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Alves escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Alves connects with a nice short shot to Larkin's temple.

Larkin lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

The crowd cheers as Alves lands an impressive looking overhand right. Larkin doesn't seem phased though.

Alves has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Derick Larkin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Rolando Alves overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Well Alves has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
