Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ethan Hazard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Rockert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hazard's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Cult of Personality. Rockert has chosen Cant be touched as his entrance music. Steve Rockert struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 171.4lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ethan Hazard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steve Rockert!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Robert Douchet and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rockert swinging wildly here.
Rockert keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Rockert shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hazard pinned against the cage. Hazard gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A right-left combo lands from Rockert.
Rockert tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hazard swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Hazard shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Rockert manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Hazard is stalling in the full guard.
Hazard is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Hazard not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Hazard stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rockert swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Rockert pushes Hazard off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Hazard darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hazard looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rockert with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Hazard not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Rockert pushes Hazard off but Hazard dives into side control.
Rockert looks gassed!

Rockert is letting Hazard control him for a moment.
Hazard's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hazard seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Rockert for as long as he can get away with.

Hazard lands a nice forearm strike.

Hazard looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hazard shoots in for a takedown but Rockert shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Rockert tries to clinch but Hazard moves out of range.
Rockert tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Hazard manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Hazard swats away the attempt to clinch by Rockert.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Hazard is trying to drag Rockert to the mat but Rockert just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Hazard shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

so Rockert counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Rockert is breathing heavily.

Hazard pushes Rockert off and gets back to his feet.
Rockert tries to clinch up

and Hazard counters with a shoot takedown. Rockert fights it but they end up in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Rockert working a defensive guard but Hazard manages to pass into side control anyway.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Rockert takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Hazard wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Rockert, who protects the arm well.

The referee asks Hazard politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Hazard prefers to stall for the moment though.
Hazard lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Rockert is trying to get back to his feet.
Hazard creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Hazard controls the position.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hazard has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Rockert takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Hazard closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Rockert did well to prevent Hazard getting side control.
Rockert has hold of Hazard's hands but Hazard slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Rockert takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Hazard slips a nice elbow through Rockert's hands, connecting with Rockert's forehead.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hazard in particular looking to stall.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Hazard tries to pass to full mount but Rockert defends it.
Hazard takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Hazard is just content to waste time from the top position. Rockert takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

We're going to have a standup here because Ethan Hazard wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

and Hazard counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Rockert thinking.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hazard postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Rockert looks a forlorn figure.

Ethan Hazard is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Hazard postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Rockert bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Hazard and the fight is over!
