The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Down just misses with a punch to the body.
Down misses with a wild body shot. Roosevelt needs to keep his hands up - Down had a free shot at his head there. Roosevelt is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Roosevelt dodges the punch combination from Down.
Roosevelt uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Down.
Roosevelt pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Roosevelt lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Roosevelt misses with a looping left. Nice shot by Roosevelt. Roosevelt shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Roosevelt connects with the punch. Roosevelt punishes Down's body with a nice straight punch. Down misses with a few strikes there.

Down lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Down misses with a wild body shot. Roosevelt thuds his right hand into Down's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Roosevelt ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Down takes one to the chin there. Take Down seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Roosevelt throws a series of punches but Down moves out of range. A looping hook to the body misses from Down. Roosevelt does a little dance to reset his feet. Down takes a body punch but keeps moving. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Roosevelt connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Down throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Down with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Roosevelt to score with a decent uppercut. Down throws a body punch but Roosevelt moves out of range. Down slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

and Roosevelt makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Roosevelt ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Roosevelt scores with a sloppy right hand. Down should have avoided that one.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Down swings and misses with a shot to the body and Roosevelt counters with a right hand to the body. Down is breathing heavily. Roosevelt looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Down takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Down is rocked! A punch combination from Down misses. Down throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Down throws a body punch but Roosevelt moves out of range. Roosevelt fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Down looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Roosevelt missing with a left hand there. Down was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Roosevelt lands with an uppercut that bounces Down off the cage and back into range. Down walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Oh Down is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Roosevelt connects with a body shot. Down seems to have got his legs back now. Some wild striking there from Roosevelt.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Roosevelt scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Down doesn't seem bothered though. Down gets caught by a brutal right hook which buckles his knees! Down tries to backpedal with his spaghettilegs but Roosevelt is headhunting and goes for the kill. A jab and a right hook connect and Down buckles badly as his eyes roll back. The referee steps in and saves Down!! Down is complaining but he was clearly out on his feet. Roosevelt throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Teddy Roosevelt!
