PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Juan Chavez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Mockalatz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Juan Chavez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joe Mockalatz!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Emerson Jorge and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chavez throws a hook but Mockalatz avoids it easily.
Mockalatz staying out of range there.
Mockalatz chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Mockalatz misses with a low kick.
Chavez keeps the fight on the outside.
Mockalatz takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Mockalatz uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Chavez.
Chavez throws a jab but it's blocked by Mockalatz.
Mockalatz throws a body punch but Chavez moves out of range.
Mockalatz lands a high kick!
Chavez will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Chavez crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Mockalatz - the referee stops the clock and Chavez gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Mockalatz. Chavez manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Joe Mockalatz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chavez throws a jab but it's blocked by Mockalatz.
Mockalatz fails to land with a series of punches.

Chavez throws the left hand but Mockalatz avoids the punch easily.
Mockalatz swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Mockalatz lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Joe Mockalatz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Mockalatz looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Chavez takes a jab right on the kisser.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Mockalatz enables Chavez to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mockalatz manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Mockalatz looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Chavez avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Chavez stands up over Mockalatz, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Mockalatz wants to get back to his feet but Chavez is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Mockalatz utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Chavez is looking to work some ground and pound but Mockalatz has wrist control.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Chavez's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Chavez wants to control from the top but Mockalatz keeps moving.

Mockalatz has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Chavez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Chavez postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Chavez throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mockalatz works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Mockalatz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chavez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Chavez sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mockalatz's guard.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Chavez lands a nice short elbow.
Chavez wants to take a breather but Mockalatz is having none of it.

Chavez is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Mockalatz won't allow Chavez to pass to mount.
Chavez thows a huge punch but Mockalatz dodges it nicely.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Chavez wants to pass to mount but Mockalatz is defending the position.
Chavez winds up and cracks Mockalatz with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Juan Chavez dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Mockalatz avoids a punch combination nicely.
Chavez lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mockalatz circles away quickly and effectively.
Juan Chavez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Mockalatz showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Chavez.
That kick from Mockalatz tenderised Chavez's leg. Chavez is trying to keep his angry face on.
Mockalatz misses the jab.
Mockalatz tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Chavez manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Mockalatz tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Mockalatz's corner calls for a 1-2. Mockalatz obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Chavez moves out of range of the strikes.
Mockalatz tries a head kick but it misses.

Chavez lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Chavez throws a hook to the side of Mockalatz's head but Mockalatz sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Chavez misses with a straight left.
Mockalatz moves away from the strike by Chavez.
Mockalatz cracks Chavez with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Mockalatz throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Chavez misses with a shot to the body
and Chavez takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Chavez checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Mockalatz tries to clinch up.

Chavez scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Chavez thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mockalatz's head.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mockalatz is staying active underneath Chavez, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Chavez is nestled in close to Mockalatz, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Chavez wants to control the pace but Mockalatz is squirming around nicely.
Chavez lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
BOOM! Chavez connects with a massive shot to the dome!


Mockalatz is rocked!
Chavez postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Mockalatz bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Chavez and the fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Juan Chavez!
During a confident post fight interview, Juan Chavez thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
