The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Faria defends it nicely.
Faria swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Gracie counters with a single leg into guard. Faria didn't expect that.
Gracie throws a big right hand that misses.
Faria is working an open guard so Gracie takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Gracie closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Faria quickly recovers to half guard.
Gracie looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gracie is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Faria!
Faria knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gracie on the ground.
