Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Abdul Malik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Veijo Unski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Malik comes to the cage accompanied by Soldier Side. Unski has chosen Smells Like Humppa as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Abdul Malik!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Veijo Unski!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Andrew Berry and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Malik throws a right and a left that Unski avoids nicely.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Malik checks a leg kick.
Nice sprawl there from Malik as Unski shoots in.
Unski misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Unski misses with a takedown attempt - Malik sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Unski throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Malik's waist but Malik gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Unski off to one side.
Abdul Malik has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Veijo Unski.

Unski wants to pass the guard but Malik is keeping the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Malik can't keep his opponent in guard - Unski advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Unski shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Malik breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Unski darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Unski seems to be working for a kimura but Malik defends the submission attempt.

Unski keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Malik's head.

Unski drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Unski jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Malik is looking for a triangle but Unski pushes his legs off easily.

Unski wants to control from the top but Malik keeps moving.

Malik had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Unski is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Malik Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Unski's back instead.
Malik doesn't have the hooks in and Unski manages to turn into his guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Malik is on top in guard.

Malik is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Malik thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Malik wants to stand but Unski has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Malik tries to free his leg and advance position but Unski is retaining full guard.

Unski has his foot on Malik's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Malik works his way back into a safe position though.

Unski thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Unski utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Malik stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Unski swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Unski fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Malik sprawls well initially but Unski persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Unski is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Malik is just riding it out for now. Unski eventually gives up the hold.

Unski fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
A combination from Malik does no damage.
Unski swats away the attempt to clinch by Malik.

Unski drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Malik tries to buck Unski off but Unski is having none of it.
Malik manages to get back to half guard.
Malik tries to kick Unski off but Unski keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Malik is staying active underneath Unski, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Malik stands and steps away. Unski gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Malik rushes Unski and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Malik wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Unski has him pressed against the cage.

Malik breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Unski closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Unski lands in his opponent's guard.
Malik wants to sweep here but Unski controlling him for the moment.
Unski lands a couple of digs.
Malik bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Unski's guard.
Malik wants to control from the top but Unski keeps moving.

Unski has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Malik doesn't defend quickly enough and Unski has managed to lock this one up! Can Malik escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Unski on a fantastic submission victory.
