PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ricardo Airaldi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Airaldi comes to the cage accompanied by Three days grace - Pain. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ricardo Airaldi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Paul Peterson!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shigeki Fujiwara and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peterson misses with a leg kick.
Airaldi throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Horrible takedown by Peterson or perhaps it was just good defense by Airaldi which made him look bad.

Airaldi fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Peterson sprawls well initially but Airaldi persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Airaldi wants to stand but Peterson has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Peterson wants to get back to his feet.
Airaldi tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Peterson.

Airaldi is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Airaldi blocks the strikes from Peterson.
Airaldi is keen to just control but Peterson is a slippery customer.

Peterson is defending against the submission attempts here by Airaldi.
Peterson is pressing down on Airaldi's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Airaldi wanted to stand there but Peterson had control of the position.
Peterson keeping moving, preventing Airaldi from controlling successfully.

Peterson wants to sweep but no luck.
Peterson pulls Airaldi in close to prevent any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Peterson looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Airaldi drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Peterson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Airaldi has Peterson in his guard.

Peterson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Airaldi has an active guard here but Peterson has managed to pass into half guard.
Airaldi is breathing heavily.

Peterson decides to return to a standing position.

Airaldi has Peterson up against the cage in a clinch.
A short body shot lands from Peterson as the two fighters clinch.
Airaldi is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Peterson gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Peterson successfully pulls guard.
Peterson wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Airaldi manages to pass to side control.

Airaldi wants to stand up but Peterson has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Peterson looks like he's trying to stand up.

Airaldi seems to be looking for submissions.
Airaldi prevents Peterson from improving his position.
Peterson controlling the position well.
Peterson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Peterson.

Peterson looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Airaldi gets to his feet. Peterson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Peterson swats away the attempt to clinch by Airaldi.

Peterson gets a clinch.

Peterson breaks the clinch.
Peterson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Peterson closes the distance and clinches.

Peterson wants the takedown. Airaldi is fighting it off but Peterson persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Airaldi's guard against the cage.
Peterson lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Peterson controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Let's hope that Peterson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Peterson passes Airaldi's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Peterson uses his free foot to push down on Airaldi's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Airaldi.

It looks like Ricardo Airaldi has been cut.

Oh Airaldi is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Ricardo Airaldi's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
