Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul McCartney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jan Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thomas is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: FANTHOMAS - Intro. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paul McCartney! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jan Thomas! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McCartney throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Thomas's waist but Thomas gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McCartney off to one side. Thomas pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Thomas scores with a nice right hand.
Thomas lands a slapping body shot.
McCartney closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. McCartney wants to control for a moment but Thomas uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McCartney is looking to take a break and control but Thomas is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. McCartney is thwarting Thomas's attempts to control the position. McCartney controlling the action here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thomas is looking for a sweep. McCartney is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. McCartney winds up and cracks Thomas with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Thomas is trying to control but can't.
McCartney seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Thomas does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Thomas tries to kick McCartney off but McCartney keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Thomas tries to roll over but McCartney keeps him under control.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. McCartney changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Thomas looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. McCartney wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Thomas, who protects the arm well. Thomas is trying to improve his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McCartney tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. You can see the frustration on Thomas's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! McCartney thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. McCartney trying to control the position but Thomas is working away. Thomas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McCartney. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McCartney happy to just control the position for now. McCartney tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Thomas defending against the ground and pound. Thomas trying his best to control but McCartney has mounted him. McCartney scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Thomas?

That's four minutes gone in the round. McCartney landing punches. McCartney putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Thomas in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. McCartney punishing his opponent with strikes. McCartney looking to secure an arm triangle but Thomas defends it well. McCartney unloading with bombs! The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! McCartney landing punches. McCartney scoring with strikes but Thomas is staying in there. McCartney avoids the attempt from Thomas to control. Thomas in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Paul McCartney dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Thomas leaves McCartney with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. McCartney misses with a kick to the body and Thomas counters with a slapping leg kick. McCartney lands a jab to Thomas's midsection. McCartney shoots in for a takedown but Thomas shows good takedown defense. Thomas throws a hook to the side of McCartney's head but McCartney sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Thomas - that will leave a mark!
McCartney fails with the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul McCartney. That's going to take a lot out of him. Thomas clobbers McCartney with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. McCartney keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Thomas. McCartney scores a takedown into full mount! McCartney takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thomas squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
McCartney trying to control but he's not successful this time. Thomas is looking to get to half guard. McCartney with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
McCartney landing strikes from the mount. Thomas bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! McCartney keeping moving, preventing Thomas from controlling successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McCartney is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. McCartney passes to side control. McCartney scores with punches from side control. McCartney working away. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. McCartney trying to control the action but Thomas is working from the bottom. Thomas can't do much from the bottom here. McCartney is looking to take a break and control but Thomas is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thomas dodges the ground and pound from McCartney. Thomas is being controlled here. McCartney has knee on belly and moves into mount. Thomas is trying to escape the mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round. McCartney's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. McCartney is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Thomas has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Thomas! Thomas throwing strikes but missing. Paul McCartney overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. McCartney is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Thomas is controlling him. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

McCartney seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

McCartney is nestled in close to Thomas, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. McCartney is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Thomas has managed to free his arm - good work. Thomas trying to control from the bottom.
McCartney wants to take a breather but Thomas is having none of it. Jan Thomas has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Thomas is refusing to be controlled, as McCartney sits in half guard. McCartney throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. McCartney is looking to advance position but Thomas won't allow it. Thomas wants to get back to full guard. Thomas makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Thomas.

McCartney wants to pass the guard but Thomas is keeping the position. McCartney wants to control from the top but Thomas keeps moving. McCartney stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Thomas swivels though and keeps the full guard. McCartney looking to sit in guard and control but Thomas gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Thomas loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Thomas tries to free his leg and advance position but McCartney is retaining full guard. McCartney has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. McCartney not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Thomas throws an elbow that misses. McCartney uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Thomas's guard. Nice move by McCartney! Paul McCartney is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Thomas is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. McCartney is aware though and is defending well. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Thomas keeping moving, preventing McCartney from controlling successfully. McCartney trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
And that's the end of the fight! Paul McCartney showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for McCartney, winning every round. Will the judges agree?
