Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Matthew McPain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lando Calrissian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matthew McPain has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matthew McPain! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lando Calrissian! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Dillan Fox and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McPain throws a hook to the side of Calrissian's head but Calrissian sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Calrissian will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. McPain misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Calrissian.
McPain throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Calrissian on the side of the head. Calrissian tries to close the distance and clinch up but McPain swats him away and circles back towards the center. Calrissian tries to clinch but McPain is having none of it. McPain throws a head kick but Calrissian moves out of range.
McPain fails to land the takedown. McPain swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

McPain breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Calrissian fails with the takedown. Calrissian tries to clinch up. McPain misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Calrissian darts in and clinches McPain up against the cage. Calrissian wants to break free but McPain has control.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. McPain is in close to Calrissian's body, working some short punches and elbows. McPain loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. McPain wants to stand but Calrissian is controlling his posture from full guard. Calrissian working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McPain doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. McPain manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. McPain is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. McPain shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Calrissian manages to get to full guard.
Calrissian is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. McPain trying to control the position from guard on top but Calrissian is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Calrissian wants to sweep but no luck. McPain wants to control from the top but Calrissian keeps moving. Calrissian had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. McPain is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Calrissian Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take McPain's back instead.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McPain staying busy and making it hard for Calrissian to control. Calrissian doesn't have the hooks in and McPain manages to turn into his guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Calrissian is on top in guard.

Calrissian is keen to just control but McPain is a slippery customer. McPain kicks off Calrissian and gets to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Calrissian stuffs the takedown attempt from McPain. McPain gets slowly back to his feet. Calrissian shoots in and drives through. McPain sprawls well. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Calrissian moves into the clinch successfully.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matthew McPain. That's going to take a lot out of him. Calrissian tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. McPain just stands there and leans against the cage. McPain breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Matthew McPain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. McPain throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
McPain lands with a right hand. McPain fails to land the takedown. Calrissian tries to clinch up but McPain circles away and keeps his distance. Calrissian drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. McPain tries to buck Calrissian off but Calrissian is having none of it. McPain regains half guard. McPain is looking to control Calrissian's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can McPain avoid being mounted?
That's two minutes gone in the round. McPain is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Calrissian is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. McPain is trying to stand.

He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Calrissian's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by McPain. McPain postures up.

Lando Calrissian showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
McPain gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Calrissian counters with a one-two to the body. Nice sprawl there from Calrissian as McPain shoots in. McPain takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Calrissian gets a clinch. Calrissian breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
McPain smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Calrissian is rocked! McPain drops Calrissian with a huge uppercut! Calrissian drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. McPain is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:29 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Matthew McPain! Matthew McPain retains his lightweight title!
