Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brian Christian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Brandao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jose Brandao told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Steve Montenegro and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brandao swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Brandao throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Christian fails with a takedown attempt.
Brandao misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Christian.
Christian slips under a jab.
Christian shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Brandao as he avoids it easily.
Christian shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Brandao pinned against the cage. Brandao gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brian Christian. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Christian jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Brandao walks away with a smile on his face. Christian gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Brandao looks to throw the jab but Christian is out of range.

Brandao should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Christian is breathing heavily.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Christian takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Brandao fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Christian looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

The referee is keeping an eye on Brandao - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Christian has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Brandao is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Christian. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Brandao throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Christian blocks it with crossed arms.

Christian breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Brandao fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Brandao looks to score with a jab to the body but Christian is just out of range.

A decent looking cross lands there for Christian.
Christian uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Brandao.
Christian fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Brandao sprawls well initially but Christian persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Christian is taking a breather. Brandao says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Brandao is defending against the submission attempts here by Christian.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Brandao is trying to stand up here but Christian is controlling him well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Christian moves into range and clinches up with Brandao.

Christian jumps guard but Brandao stands there with Christian around his waist. Christian gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Christian pulls guard successfully.
Christian tries to strike from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brandao got a little sloppy there for a moment and Christian has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Brandao has managed to get both his arms back between Christian's legs - danger averted.
Brandao would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Christian manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Christian trying to control but Brandao is having none of it.
Brandao is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Christian is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Brandao is forced to tap! Great finish!
