The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Durden misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Durden takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

and Romo counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Romo connects with a leg kick. Durden looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Romo turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Durden shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Romo defends it nicely.
John Kyle Romo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeremy Durden.

Durden is trying desperately to land a takedown but Romo is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Durden.

and Romo counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Romo.

Romo is pressed up against the cage. Durden has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Romo down to the mat. Romo avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Durden throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Romo's waist but Romo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Durden off to one side.

Good leg kick by Romo there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Romo scores with a sloppy right hand. Durden should have avoided that one.
Romo stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Romo scores with a head kick. Durden tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Durden sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Jeremy Durden seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Romo connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
