Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nemean Athos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ed Valquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nemean Athos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ed Valquez!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Athos throws the left hand but Valquez avoids the punch easily.
Athos bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Valquez! He dives into his guard looking to finish!


Valquez is rocked!


It looks like Ed Valquez has been cut.

Valquez has his foot on Athos's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Athos works his way back into a safe position though.
Valquez is still in real trouble! Can Athos finish him?
Valquez throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Athos trying to control but Valquez is working from the bottom.
Valquez seems to have recovered his senses.
Athos is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Valquez trying to keep a closed guard but Athos is proving a slippery customer.

Athos wants to control from the top but Valquez keeps moving.
Valquez trying to strike off his back.

Valquez is looking for a triangle but Athos pushes his legs off easily.
Athos stopping the sweep attempt from Valquez.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Valquez slips a jab and a cross from Athos.

Valquez scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Valquez controlling the action here.
Valquez seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Athos does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Athos controlling the position for now.
Valquez wants to control but Athos is keeping him busy.
Valquez controlling the action here.
Valquez thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Athos's head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Athos is trying to maintain the position but Valquez is very close to passing his half guard.
Valquez looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Valquez perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Valquez trying to control the action but Athos is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Nemean Athos will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Ed Valquez's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Valquez changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Athos looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Valquez trying to control the position but Athos is working away.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Valquez working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Athos is trying to get back to half guard.

Valquez moves into full mount!
Athos can't escape the position.
Valquez misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Valquez looking to control but Athos is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Valquez content just to control the position here.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Athos tries to control the position but Valquez now has his back.
Athos trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Athos manages to scramble and ends up in full guard, under a barage of strikes . Great composure from Athos.
Valquez trying to control the position from guard on top but Athos is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Athos throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Valquez tumbling to the canvas!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Valquez looking for a sweep. Not yet Valquez, not yet.
Valquez is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Valquez has Athos pulled in close to control his posture.
Athos trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Valquez is striking but Athos is not phased and passes to half guard.
Athos prevents Valquez from improving his position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Valquez misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Athos wants to lay and pray for a moment but Valquez keeps working.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Valquez bobbing and weaving nicely... He's ducked under a jab and ducks again but ooooooh! Athos comes at him with an uppercut from hell! Valquez falls to the canvas, unconscious! This one is all over! Oh man, looking at the replay that was right on the button! Valquez was out before he hit the floor!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Nemean Athos!
