Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigo Nogueira! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chris Silva! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Edson Gomes and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nogueira fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Silva avoids it really well and circles away. Nogueira looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Nogueira shoots in looking for a takedown but Silva manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Nogueira's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rodrigo Nogueira. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nogueira shoots in for a takedown but Silva shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Silva defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Nogueira. Nogueira is breathing heavily. Nogueira misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Silva should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Silva fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Nogueira sprawls well initially but Silva persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Silva takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Silva in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Nogueira tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Silva!
