PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Colby Henderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean Corvia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Henderson comes to the cage accompanied by Waka Flocka Flame- Hard in The Paint. Corvia has chosen Three 6 Mafia - It's a Fight as his entrance music. Colby Henderson could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Sean Corvia's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Colby Henderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sean Corvia!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Yves DeLean and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Corvia shoots in looking for a takedown but Henderson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Corvia's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Corvia shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Henderson as he jumps to the side.
Henderson throws a hook but Corvia avoids it easily.
Henderson rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Corvia counters with a takedown into side control.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Corvia throwing strikes but Henderson manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
You can see the frustration on Corvia's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Corvia might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Henderson kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Corvia is looking to get back to his feet here but Henderson is keeping cool and he's managed to take Corvia's back.

Henderson keeps control of the position as Corvia tries to break free.
Henderson is trying to stick to Corvia's back but Corvia is turning into Henderson. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Henderson's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Corvia.

Corvia drops back, looking for a kneebar! Henderson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Henderson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Henderson!
Corvia is trying to work for a sweep but Henderson has mounted him!

Corvia is in all sorts of trouble here.
Henderson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Corvia tries to buck Henderson off but he can't manage it.
Corvia tries to lock up and control but Henderson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Corvia is looking to improve his position but Henderson isn't that keen on the idea.
Corvia sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Corvia makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Corvia fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Colby Henderson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sean Corvia.
Corvia avoids the body shot from Henderson.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Henderson misses with a straight left.

Oooooh!!! Henderson has knocked Corvia down with a huge combo! Henderson steps away and waves a wobbly Corvia back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


Corvia is rocked!


It looks like Sean Corvia has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Henderson tries to close the distance and clinch but Corvia swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Corvia gets the takedown into side control.
Corvia wants to take a breather but Henderson manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Corvia.
Corvia trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Henderson keeping moving, preventing Corvia from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Colby Henderson will probably get the nod.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Henderson throws a right hand that misses

and Corvia counters with a nice double leg into side control. Henderson won't be happy with that.
Henderson is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Corvia is controlling him well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Henderson sneaks out the side door and pushes Corvia away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Corvia fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Henderson avoids it really well and circles away.
Corvia closes the distance and clinches up with Henderson, looking for a takedown. Corvia pushes Henderson against the cage but Henderson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Corvia shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Henderson sprawls well. Henderson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Corvia gets slowly back to his feet.
Colby Henderson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sean Corvia.

Henderson misses with a telegraphed body shot

so Corvia counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Corvia wants to control from the top but Henderson keeps moving.
Corvia trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Corvia pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Henderson is keeping the position for now.
Corvia trying to control but Henderson is working from the bottom.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Sean Corvia.
Corvia walks into a jab.
Henderson just misses with a punch to the body.
Corvia closes this distance looking for a takedown but Henderson circles away.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Henderson misses with a looping right.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Corvia shoots for a double leg takedown but Henderson sprawls well. He's pushed Corvia's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Corvia fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Henderson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Corvia manages to avoid it.
Henderson slaps away a takedown attempt from Corvia, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Corvia has a takedown stuffed.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Henderson misses with a few strikes there.
Corvia looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Henderson comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Colby Henderson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Henderson tries to clinch there but Corvia circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Colby Henderson will probably get the nod.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Henderson misses with an uppercut

and Corvia counters with a shoot takedown. Henderson fights it but they end up in guard.
Corvia stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Henderson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Corvia working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Corvia with a flurry of punches that miss.
Henderson keeping moving, preventing Corvia from controlling successfully.
Henderson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Henderson jabs at Corvia's body.
Corvia uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Henderson.
Corvia shoots in and drives through. Henderson sprawls well.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Henderson, as that shot connected.
Colby Henderson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Henderson cracks Corvia with a brutal left hook that knocks him out cold! This one is over in a flash! Game over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Colby Henderson!
